I am interested, is there a safe way to cross over to childrenswear from womenswear without burning your bridges. There is a great position coming up soon in the childrenswear department of where I work. Its a great role and would make a great "next step" from where I stand at the moment.

I am worried that if I cross over to kids that I will never be able to work in womenswear again. I am currently working partly in kidswear and have really been surprised at how much I have enjoyed it (I presumed I would have hated it, but I was totally wrong)

Is there a safe two way crossing between mens / womens / kids / baby?

I would appreciate any comments or experiences :flower:

I'm in technical design, and from my experience as a technical designer, it pretty much is career suicide to go from womenswear to childrenswear. Childrenswear is considered much easier (because you fit on a dress form, and they don't complain about the fit, unlike in womenswear where you fit on a fit model who will complain about fit), and is usually considered what you do when you can't cut it in womenswear. I don't think there's as much negative stigma if you are in design, merchandising, or production if you move from womenswear to childrenswear (because you're more judged on sales than on garment quality). HTH.
