Just as designers prepare for the Spring/Summer 2008 show marathon – and any models aspiring to secure work on its flesh-flashing runways tone up to fit into the samples - Barcelona-based fast fashion retailer Mango is extending the size range of its autumn/winter collection. To promote the collection, which hits northern hemisphere stores in a few weeks, Mango is using plus-sized American model Crystal Renn.


(British Marie Claire and Marketing Week) report that the 19 year-old Miami native is the star of Mango’s new “Why not?” campaign. According to her Ford Models profile, Renn is 175cm and 75kgs: a US size 14 or UK size 16 and, pending the size conversion table, either an Australian size 16 or 18. Either way, Renn represents a different look to Mango’s regular frontwomen, who include mainstream fashion models and recently, the actresses Milla Jovovich and Penelope Cruz.

For a while after she started with Ford in NY, she was still listed on NeXt's website in Miami, and the listing was removed after about 3 months. Perhaps there? Crystal is listed as a US 12-14 on the Ford site, however she is a bit smaller than that from recent eyewitness reports. Which makes sense, because an XL in Mango is listed as a US12, and they are cut on the junior/slim side.

Also, Crystal will not be modeling for Anna Scholz anymore as she has been contracted exclusively in the UK with Evans, the UK version of Lane Bryant.
