Cushnie et Ochs F/W 13.14 New York

The first three looks are divine but then... the cutouts... :yuk:

Oooo and dat leather.

i kind of love this...
lots of great things going on

i kind of wish the winter whites weren't so bright whites, but the darker stuff is lovely, the green is so rich and beautiful, and i love print... light filtering through trees? sunset in the forest? i'm not sure what to call it, but i think it's great.

see, i actually don't mind the cutouts! i think they're done really well – and tasteful!
they don't feel gratuitous to me, and i think they're slight little peeks on parts that are flattering places to show skin on a lot of women
much more chic than a midriff cutout.

I like sunset in the forest-- that's so beautiful. :)

The cutouts I've seen this year on the runway I haven't liked much-- the one from this collection that irked me was the v-shaped one that simply shows off the hips. It just seems like an attempt to be avant-garde and innovative but it just comes across as tacky, IMO. I prefer figure to be shown through a full dress-- Zac Posen can illustrate that gorgeously at times. Maybe they'll grow on me.
But never a midriff cutout. ;)

They've kind of made cut outs part of their design DNA and I like that; they are done very tastefully and this is not exception. However, I feel like the few times they've attempted prints, it just goes all wrong. This collections is so strong, that I really feel they could have avoided those printed looks, they look kind of design school-ish.

But all in all I adore this duo and their sexy, modern approach to dressing. Two great American designers.

I wish they would have expanded on the prints and the deep green and blue pieces, I just couldn't get enough of them. The two sky blue looks are the standouts to me, utter class. Some of their cutouts work for me, some don't, I'm more impressed by the front slits on that green gown, yowza that's sexy. Great collection overall.

I like the cut on each dress; it was perfectly placement. The collection was stunning.

Another gorgeous collection. Very feminine and delicate.
Only thing to criticize is the hair&makeup, which makes the models look very tired.

Loved everything about this collection, clothing, makeup, lighting, but I just wish something different was done with the hair, the horse mane/mohawk thing really isnt working for me

Yeah, it is.

Their best collections for me are when they interject a print (or two) in. They don't do it that often, but when they do it adds so much balance and makes the collection a little more memorable.

This collection is such an unusual mixing of sexy and earthy, that just worked perfectly for me. I adore it so much that I had to come revisit it already.

And Michelle, with Carly, wearing that beautiful sunset in the forest print:
