D la Repubblica ‘The Fashion Issue’ Volume #2 F/W 2025.26 by Robin Galiegue, Carlijn Jacobs and Mark Kean

I like Mark Kean's ed. He's becoming very relevant after shooting The Row and TF. He just shot the cover Chloé story for Another with Libby and that's also good.
But I agree 100% with @WinstonH20 re: the beigeness.
I like his work but it always looks very similar. It is his signature style but he will need to change it up eventually.

Yes…i like his work too for example the system portfolio was a more dynamic. Or the concept itself was stale.

Not sure if the cast was the best…

Julia's ed is the only thing worthwhile in the whole issue, sadly... and even that isn't saying much.

... and Carljin was cute.

Pretty sure Carlijn wasn’t going for cute LOL

Noticed she’s been attempting for dramatic and serious for a while now; probably studying Horst, Avedon and Ritts for their masterclass in timeless, classic modern form and silhouette. Unfortunately., she’s a mess since she can’t seem to strip off her whimsy and playfulness that’s made her a solid talent. And this attempt is embarrassingly sloppy: What’s the point of shooting on-location in what appears to be a white sands region, but never takes full advantage of the elements there??? May as well shoot in studio in this case. And that the styling is so messy, so inconsistent, so unfaltering doesn’t help either. The sole shot with the most potential— the Issey crimson one, looks like Anja fell flat on her a55 while attempting to pose dramatically on the sand.

All the stories are shot competently— at least they’re lit and composited solidly. But as usual, none are able to take you there.

The positive component is that the art direction is much improved from the last several issues over the harsh and cluttered direction of the past.

BTW, your floors are great!

S Koller posted this…on the last picture terr is an alternate cover. It is much better the one they published.

Carijn is so bad. She always uses too obvious Guy Bourdin reference, almost copy and paste level. Without Guy Bourding ripoff, her eds look always super flat like this editorial.

Robin has been always flat, so nothing much to say. I couldn’t remember most of his recent works except Deborah Turbeville reference editorial he did recently.

I like Mark, because his photography is evolving. When Carijn and Robin is using all same lighting and retouching for years. His technic got more refined. This editorial is not that good, but love his recent works!

It's a solid issue that goes above and even beyond what today's low standards pass for a monthly effort. Wished that Emanuel is that strong of an editor to have realized and seen that Robin’s shoot with Julia should have only featured selects from the on-location shots. The in-studio shots are not only unnecessary, but ruin the flow. A strong story with The Lady of the Lake vibe starring Julia— and included some double-page spreads that showcase the expansive location would have been a great story. Even Samara could see that a talent like Vincent van de Wijngaard’s on-location shoots stand on their own without the need for that annoying inclusion of instudio shots. Seriously, a publication needs to ban editorials with that combination of on-location shoots alongside stark instudio shoots. Just pick one.
