Danica Magpantay

I think the fashion industry do need more pacific asian girls!B)
But IMG already has Charlotte Carey and an new Indian girl on their roster and Charlotte is also dark skinned asian since she's from Indonesia! ^_^
Hopefully Ford pushes her!!!!:innocent:B):flower:

A big reason why Charo and Charlene's careers have flourished despite their runner up finishes is because they stayed and planted roots in NYC. They have and they are patiently going to go sees, getting rejections, winning campaigns and basically living the crazy and hardly glamorous lives of models. Perhaps they work a lot harder because they don't have the Supermodel of the World Winner halo hanging over their heads? I'm sure their agents at Ford appreciate their work ethic ergo their continued representation.

What use is Danica's victory last year (that's like 7 years in modelling years:lol:) if she continues to make Manila her home base? It's a smaller pond there that's for sure, her name probably opens more doors....but what a big waste to not take advantage of the opportunities here first. Rome wasn't built in a day......I hope she isn't under the illusion that her SOTW win was going to catapult her career to the pages of Vogue. She too has to pay her dues first.

Why do some clients feel the need to cake her face with makeup? She's too beautiful for all that contouring & bronzer!! I think if she walked into the offices of Givenchy with a sleek ponytail & no makeup, Riccardo would fall in love with her.

“The Prophetess within the Lands of the Enchanted”

Ford Supermodel of the World 2011 winner Danica Magpantay graces the graphic-inspired editorial as collaborated upon by photographer Adrian Gonzales and illustrator Vaughn Pinpin.

Ang Babaylan sa Lupain ng Encantos, which translates to “The Prophetess within the Lands of the Enchanted,” is a fashion editorial that highlights concepts based on Filipino folklore. Gonzales’ lens captured Magpantay’s ethereal and soft beauty, which is a contrast to her usual hardcore “fierce” image mostly found in magazine spreads; while Pinpin carefully embroidered the photos’ blank spaces with mythical creatures such as nymphs and fairies to complete the overall look that has now been achieved by the editorial.

The set is a celebration of limitless possibilities. It demonstrates how one doesn’t have to resort to stereotypes in order to produce work that is at risk of being considered inspired by western influence. Magpantay’s dark skin deviates from usual cherub figures found in paintings, and her modeling skills prove that evoking “angelicness” can be done without the association from pre-notions that angel figures have to have light skin, and so on. To add is Pinpin’s line art which, while inspired by Narnian elements, should not be confused with what’s Filipino. The overall picture, when looked at altogether, produces a feeling that is unmistakeably Filipino.
