He started it after he did Equus, because he had to smoke in that show every night.

Daniel Radcliffe commandeered as master of ceremonies at the Shubert Foundation/Music Theatre International Broadway Student Celebration earlier today in New York City, where hundreds of city students from Brooklyn, Queens and Manhattan got a taste of the Broadway stage. Each school performed a song from their production of a student version of a classic musical, including Annie, Once on this Island, Seussical, Disney’s Aladdin and Guys and Dolls.

I'd just like to say that I <3 Dan for a lot of reason's these last few days.
1) for hosting that international broadway student celebration. Awww... 2) for preforming at the Tony's 3) how passionate he is for gay rights and donating his name and money to such a great organization 4) Anna Wintour+Dan is AWESOME!

Also I was flipping through my mom's copy of the July 2011 O magazine (I know... weird...) and Dan is featured in a segment called, "Books that made a difference to Daniel Radcliffe." And in the two page spread he talks about seven books that moved him. It was really interesting to read- he always mentions in interviews he likes to read- but now's a chance to see whats actually on his bookshelf. And for a nerd like me it's always exciting to see what people are reading (especially since I think that what types of books you read can say a lot about who you are).

The list includes; The Master and Margarita by Mikhall Bulgakov,
Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas by Hunter S. Tompson,
Germinal by Emile Zola,
Labyrinths by Jorge Luis Borges,
Midnight's Children by Salman Rushdie,
The Old Man and The Sea by Ernest Hemingway,
and Selected Poems by Tony Harrison.

Have to say that Daniel has totally gone up in my estimation following last night. Sadly a member of the crew at How To Succeed passed away just before the 8pm curtain. Ordinarily in this situation the company manager would go out on stage to tell the audience what had happened and that the performance had been cancelled. Last night Dan and co-star John Larroquette chose to do that. Full marks at a difficult time.
