Daniella Sarahyba's Q&A

The one thing I'm absolutely obsessed with lately is ...
I'm not a very sporty girl. I don't go to the gym every day, but I love to be where I can play sports, like in Brazil we can play volleyball at the beach. I love this kind of healthy life. In Rio, I live by the beach so it is a great pleasure for me to run and walk on the beach. It's totally different when you exercise indoors and when you can enjoy the air, the green, the ocean. I'm obsessed with nature. I love volleyball and dancing. I was a dancer from age 3 to 16. I stopped because I became a model and didn't have time anymore. But I love dancing; classic, ballet and jazz. Hopefully, one day I can go back to it.

On a quiet, rainy day I usually ...

I like to rest and read a good book because I don't usually have the time. When I'm home and it's raining, I like to just read and do things on my computer and organize my life. I read Portuguese books, but I like to read histories and biographies and novels.

If I were giving a tour of my home, the one place I wouldn't show anyone is ...
[Laughs] I'm very organized and I'm not scared of anyone seeing anything. I love to show my closet! I'm so organized and I really work on my organization.

Did you get that from you mother ?
She's a Virgo, can you imagine? She taught me to be organized, but I was always organized, also. Everything in my life, my clothes, my work, my schedules, everything is organized. I really like to organize my life.

The sexiest thing a man has ever done for me is ...
I went to the south of Brazil to stay with my mom for 10 days. My boyfriend and I had been together for one month. The day after I arrived at the hotel, I went down to breakfast, he was there sitting and waiting for me. He surprised me. We were both wearing the same color clothing: blue and white! I had just spoken to him the day before, telling him I have to work and travel and then the next day he was there. We had a wonderful, romantic week.

And the sexiest thing I've ever done for a man is ...
I did the same thing, actually! [Laughs] I surprised him in Brazil. I left from New York and I went to Brazil as a surprise. It was amazing. I'm between New York and Rio and he was there in Rio, so I surprised him.

I feel a secret connection with ...
Cindy Crawford and Elle MacPherson. They're beautiful, they're healthy, I think they have everything. They are two big models that I have a connection with. Even when I do castings, they say 'You're the Cindy Crawford-type.' I really think they are gorgeous.

In a past life I was ...
I was a model [Laughs]. As you know, when I was three days old I was on a cover of a magazine with my mom. I was a dancer and a model, because I was always with my mom, always following her, like, 'Where are you going? I want to come with you.' I wanted to be a model like her, I wanted to do what she was doing. That was my dream.

If I didn't have any responsibilities tomorrow morning, I would spend tonight ...
At a romantic dinner with my fiancé. I love Italian food, unfortunately [Laughs]. I also love Brazilian BBQ.

If I didn't have any responsibilities for a week, I would go to ...
I would go to St. Bart's with my fiancé [laughs] on vacation. I've never been to St. Bart's, but I've heard it's an amazing place. I've been traveling around the world and I know so many places, and I think St. Bart's would be an amazing place to go.

If you asked my friends about me, the first thing they would tell you is ...
That I'm genuine. And that I'm always laughing and smiling and bringing happiness for everyone.

The last thing I really splurged on was ...
Can I tell you something? I love sales. I'm a sale girl. I bought beautiful diamond earrings in Brazil. I love jewelry. But at the same time, I love those sales. I go straight to the end, to the sale [laughs]. I bought the earrings in Brazil, but I wear them more in New York. It's not really safe to wear them in Brazil.

If I were going to a costume party tonight, I would dress as ...
Catwoman. I would love to do it! [Laughs] I always wanted to do it. I always wanted to have a body like that. I'm never here, though! I'm always in Rio or traveling somewhere.

When I get dressed to go to the grocery store, my clothing inspiration is ...
I'm very casual. I like jeans and comfortable, black T-shirts, and that's it, very normal [laughs].

When I get dressed up for a party, my clothing inspiration is ...
I like dresses, short dresses. Not long, not to my knees. I like short and cute dresses. I like to wear big dresses. Just a simple nice cute dress. But I like to show my legs.

One thing I do only when I'm home completely alone is ...
I like to enjoy my time and relax. It's hard to find free time, so I like to lay down, listen to good music and read my book and that's it. I'll just wear little shorts and wear a baby T-shirt. I don't sing along with the music. I like to use my iPod. I love Bossanova, John Mayer, and this kind of music I like to hear when I'm home. Quiet music, like Enya. But if I go to a party I love loud music, of course [laughs].

The one thing I hate for people to know about me is that I ...
It's very hard for me, I'm very transparent. People in Brazil, they really know my life because I'm really known there. Today, for example, I open my computer and a magazine revealed the dress I will be wearing for my wedding, which is in three months. I didn't tell anyone who made my dress. I wanted everything to be a surprise. I'm very traditional. I don't want to talk about it.

If I had to spend $1 million right now, I would ...
I wouldn't spend all the money at once. I would buy a house in Angra, in Brazil. It's my favorite place in the world. It's a beautiful, gorgeous place. That's my place. Angra is my place. There are mountains and ocean there. There are huge mountains, which you can hike through, but I prefer the ocean. The beaches are beautiful and so empty, no one is there. It's amazing. People go around in boats, it's amazing. We should go shoot there [laughs].

If I had to spend $10 right now, I would ...
I would give the money to someone else [laughs]. I don't need it.

The sexiest I've ever felt was ...
It was the wedding of a friend of mine, maybe two years ago, and I was wearing a long, Versace red dress.

The one place I've seen that I'll never forget is ...
I think Angra. I've been many places where I will never forget. Marrakech is just ... the culture is just amazing. I would have to say The Maldives Islands, as well. The color of the water is amazing.

I won't date a man if he ...
Sometimes I can tell when a guy will try to be around me just because of who I am. I can tell. I hate that. I like gentlemen; I hate bad manners. I like guys who open doors for you and send you flowers.

My favorite time to be naked is ...
No, no, no. Nothing. Even when I sleep, I like to sleep with something on.

When it comes to nudity, most people don't know that I ...
That I don't like to be nude. I really don't like it. I don't feel comfortable. In Brazil, they've asked me to do Playboy, for a lot of money, but I would never do it.

When I open my eyes in the morning, the very first thing on my mind is ...
How happy I am. 'God, what a wonderful life!' [Laughs] I just say thanks to God for everything. I don't need anything else.

My favorite thing to do in the comfort of my own room is ...
I hate cooking! There is one thing I like, a condensed milk with chocolate. It's not very liquid-like, it's thick like a shake. It's a Brazilian dessert, but I can only have it sometimes. It's called brigadeiro.

I have a secret crush on ... pick an athlete ?
David Beckham. He's cute, he's gorgeous.

How about an entertainer ?
George Clooney. I appreciate his career. He's gorgeous.
And name one surprise crush who most people wouldn't find particularly attractive.
I don't really have anyone that would be a surprise. I like gorgeous guys like Brad Pitt.

If I could be anything but a model, I would be ...
I would work in publicity. It's creative. It makes part of my work, and that's the reason.

If I could be anywhere else in the world right now, I would be ...
I'd go to Angra [laughs]. It's because this is a very special place to me. It's a magical place. My father, who passed away 12 years ago, would always take me there on the weekends. Maybe that's the reason that it's magical, because I have good memories. Even now I go with my fiancé, my friends, my mom, my family, it keeps being my favorite place. The nature is so beautiful there.

In a group of people, I'm always the first to ...
To do cheers, to toast someone. I have two special occasions. When I signed a contract in Brazil, I signed the contract that I really wanted to do two years ago. I had friends and family to celebrate and we did a nice cheer. The second cheer was for my engagement. I just like to appreciate the moment and thank my friends for being there. It's nothing very deep, but it's real.

The worst lie I ever told was ...
I hate to lie! I can't. If I lie, you can tell I'm lying. If I lie, two seconds later I'll tell you I'm lying. My face gets totally red; I'm such a bad liar. Don't ask me to do it! [Laughs].

To impress a cute man at a bar, I would ...
I would give a smile and look him in the eyes.

The last time I saw a woman and thought 'I wish I looked like her' was ...
No, I've never thought that before.

The one thing I'm superstitious about is ...
I am superstitious. When you are sitting at a table, you can never pass me the salt to my hand, you have to put it down on the table. [Laughs] I have some funny ones. I don't like anything from the ocean in my house. I wouldn't want an aquarium. I guess I heard something about it when I was a child, and so I've always been like that.

My personal hero is ...
My father because I only have good memories of him. He was always giving me all his love to make me happy. I was very happy when I was a child because he was with me, and my mother and brother. Unfortunately, he passed away. I remember when I was little saying, 'My father's the tallest! My father's the strongest!'

Where's your hometown ?
Rio, Brazil. I grew up in Rio. The best city ever, the most wonderful town. It's a little dangerous now, but hopefully the police are making it better. It's one of the most beautiful cities in the world. Even with these problems, it still gives me the most energy and a good feeling and to wake up and look at the ocean. I like waking up to nature.

Do you have any sort of special connection with your hometown ?
I think the first thing is that we, Brazilians, we value nature and simple lives. Even poor people are always smiling, bringing you the best energy. We value the little things. It's OK to have money or not, whatever, but it's amazing to wake up and get an amazing energy from the ocean. People are always smiling there. It's not like when you go to other places and they won't talk to you. Even if they don't speak English, they will talk to you and give you a big smile. Two months ago at the beach, a group of French people were playing soccer with people from a favela. It's a big difference, like with money, but they were trying to speak English and it was a beautiful moment.

Where's the one place you have to go when you're in your hometown ?
The beach in Ipanema and drink my coconut water. I think it's the most beautiful place ever. The view. When the sun sets between the mountains and the ocean it is golden.

How do you feel about environmental issues such as global warming or pollution ?
When I go to Angra, I get so sad when I go there. A lot of the fisherman throw bottles in the water, they pollute there. Every time I go there I take a big plastic bag. I pick up all the trash. I do what I can do. It's very hard to say something that everyone says, when no one has any idea what is happening. I do my part and when I have someone else with me, I always bring them to do it also. We take our big plastic bags to pick up the trash.

^Thanks for the photos :) She is lovely. I'd kind of hoped that SI would give her more visibility and we'd see her in more national campaigns...hopefully this will be the year.
