Daphne Groeneveld

You guys sound like she's the first and the youngest model in the businesses
It's just how the industry works ;)
Thank you -_- Not saying that this should be her fan club thread but it's really sad to see these types of comments. Gross? How can someone be disgusted by a girl? :ermm:

For me, the fact that she looks so innocent and sultry at the same time is such a delight thing to see. I don't feel like her image is being used in a morbid way. That's the whole point, she is being used in a selective, special manner.

She might be an acquired taste to some... or maybe with time, people will grow up on her.

Ofcourse she is just a girl, she is 15 but she is not the only young girl. She is going to school and like other models doesn't fulltime modeling. She also got her own stuff and ofcourse sometimes she has to let things go lcause she has been booked for a shoot. I think she looks young to, but there are perfect brands she can represent for that like MiuMiu. Ansd her agency shall be very selective so she only work with the best and the best things and for the rest go to school and do stuff with friends and family.

Daphne will be the Next Monika Jac, a Superstar in the Making
its like every year they keep getting younger.
I wouldn't be surprised in the next coming seasons
13-14 will be the face of Gucci

Daphne is older than when Jac started modelling.

15 really isn't that young at all in the grand history of the model industry. In the early 90s some models (e.g Krissy Taylor, bless her) were walking at as young as 13.

It may not be 'right', but 15 is a pretty normal age to start out.

I think it's just the way she looks that seems to be offending people: a hybrid of an innocent child and a provocative woman.

Gross might be too strong a word, no? Don't understand the excitement, here. Jac did lingerie for fashion editorials in Asia when being somewhat 13, the 15yo Toni Garrn was photographed in transparent garments for the SS08 campaign of Calvin Klein, Anna-Mariya Urazhevskaya was featured on the Cover of Vogue Paris when she was 15 and we all know that Kate Kosushkina is a pretty young-looking thing as well, so i don't see anything wrong with Daphne working some runway looks (and she knows her business) at the fashion weeks. :ermm:

They didn't look that innocent, sweet and young as Daphne does. I think that's (at least for me) the thing that makes me say she is to young (not the age-thing, but the way she looks)

I don't think it's right for models to start so young. I understand that youth can be beautiful, but I just don't find a 15-year-old appealing in the slightest. I don't know why this trend of such little girl looking models started recently (especially after Fall/Winter 2010's uber-femme craze). I don't get it. Models are increasingly starting younger and younger. What's next? A 13-year-old? The thought of it is just repulsive!

And not only do I disapprove of the fact that Daphne is only 15, I can't believe that designers find her attractive in their clothes because she, in fact, looks much younger (facially AND body-wise...just look at her narrow, narrow shoulders...ugh) than she really is...and she is already too young!

I miss the days when models were women. I mean, even during the baby doll craze of the mid-'00s, girls like Lily, Gemma, Heather and Lisa all were slightly older and possessed an aura of maturity and elegance that counterbalanced their childish faces. Daphne, on the other hand, looks straight out of the crib in every possible way.

It's right to start out and build the portfolio up but not to hit all the fashion shows imo.

Even etablished older models are exhaused after the shows and what about a 15years old girl who also has to handle with 1000 new impressions and people!

Julia Saner talked in a german interview about her first season, it was a little bit sad what she told but remember that she isn't even hyped as Daphne.

I read the Jac and Toni comparisons but, even though they started as young as Daphne, they looked older in comparison to what Daphne's look right now. So in that matter, these are not a fair comparison.

Kate Kosushkina, I can understand. She might be the nearest example. But I sense a soar feeling when it comes to Daphne because she is the one getting big quality jobs while Kate's biggest career peak might be only closing Prada.

But that's not my point. What I'm trying to say is that we all have our tastes. We all know what we like and what we don't. So if you don't like Daphne's look, that's fine. But what's the point of going to her thread and start throwing negative comments without thinking the consequences of it. Not only that but calling her GROSS?! Talk about manners! This is something that can easily be read by some acquaintance of her. This is the exact reason why the 'Models whose looks you don't get' thread was closed.

All I read is how she looks like a kid, that she looks like a girl wearing make up and big woman clothes. If that's the only thing you see, how sad. I think that whenever she gets something big, someone feels the necessity of bringing her down. If you don't like her, that's fine. But leave the ones who do enjoy her look and feel happy for the success she's having.

The greymagazine photos are great but has been posted on page 3 or something ;)

^Ahah so she's lying about her age? In a video she said "she-was-16"..

don't understand lying about age -_- but it's 25 Dec 95 her real date of birth? ny mag isn't very very reliable source...

The more I try to know something about models, the more I apprehend that there are no reliable sources.

I missed out on quite a lot of things here on tfs, and as I was just trying to get up-to-date with Daphne, I'm literally overwhelmed by pages and pages of age-talk  First all the age-guessing (15? 16? we still don't know for sure and I don't think it's relevant at that point anyway - what difference does 1 year make anyway?) and then the bashing because of her puerile appearance on the runway (or: childlike-look in general) - is that really neccessary? And I'm not talking about stating ones opinion on here, because, if someone thinks that she looks too young - well, so be it. Everyone is free to say how he/she feels towards a model in their thread.
But I just don't see the point of endless discussions about it -_-

What
is relevant to me: Daphne had a wonderful show-season. She could make great impressions on great clients and there's definitely more to come and look forward to. I only hope they keep her bookings quite exclusive and and choose the work she does very well. Could even rise the attention and demand.

But I still don't get the hype around her. I mean, she almost looks the same as Hailey Clauson and (Hailey) isn't that overrated..So, why Daphne?
