Daphne Guinness

BTW, I fully expect her to show up somewhere with Lady Gaga in the near future...

Thanks for posting those candids Love$2shop.

The new photos are disdurbing. The guy in the second photo looked scared lol. I totally see Bride of Frankenstein or a horror movie character.

In her other photos she is like a cross between Holly Golightly & Cruella DeVille but I love that.

True story. It's just overload. She shouldn't have worn the belt or the shoes, and the make-up application should have probably stopped at the 2 hour mark.

^I think the belt is great and only looks too much because the make up and shoes already overload the outfit. Had she toned down, it would have looked perfectly balenced.
The profile in the 5th picture is stunning.
Seriously.
If it were not for the demented glare, that picture would be perfection.
That collar is one of the most stunning accessory/piece of jewelry Daphne has ever worn.

Reading all those negative comments I felt a bit bad about my own harshness so I went back to the pictures to see whether I still felt the same about them.
Well, let's just say it doesn't get better after repeat viewings.

I'm not sure what would be more appropriate at this point: an intervention or an exorcism?

Anyway, for nostalgia's sake, here is my favourite Daphne look:

^^ I personally don't like that look; to me she she looks like a very wealthy woman who shops here.

I'm much more a fan of her more recent looks. She might not always look the most beautiful and well-dressed, but Daphne always stays true to her own aesthetic. She is a visionary amongst the sea of fashionable women who have cash yet no imagination. Isn't that why we love her? ;)

Agreed that the collar is stunning, but I think the belt stifles the outfit, detracts attention away from the collar, and obliterates the drape of the dress.

The color/texture/drape of the dress in combination with the collar and the hair would have made her stand-out already. With each additional piece, it becomes more cluttered and atrocious.

Sorry Daphne. Next time.

There's being fashion-forward and then there's being crazy! I do admit that there could've been a possibility that I could've liked this outfit had she not worn the belt, though.

As much as it pains me to say this, and I speak as a gay man, but often I find homosexuals can take advantage of characters like Daphne. You could argue that she is in some ways being used by men like Olivier Zahm, Steven Klein, and David Lachappelle as an expression of themselves but to the detriment and compromise of herself. I'm aware various contributors of this thread have expressed concern with her new friendships namely that of Olivier Zahm and I whole heartedly agree, reminiscent of an Edie and Andy circa factory girl and its always the woman that gets screwed over. Having said that its only a few outfits that have flopped, there have been occasions such as the Valentino screening where I think she has got it spot on and I love that Chanel coat from the latest couture collection, but worse still when someone mentioned the late isabella blow, it struck a chord!

^ what an interesting perspective, you may well be right! :flower:

Regarding the latest look, I'm not sure if my opinion has softened upon later viewing..

I do like the collar, dress, and belt combination...but the outrageous hair and makeup and those shoes *shudder* really kill it for me. And I'm not sure if its acceptable to judge an outfit by cutting off the neck up and feet down!

after seeing her walking out a store wearing the infamous nina riccis boots, the mcqueen shoes look tame...the outfit is something, well, expected from her in some way......but thehair/ make up......did she seriously thought it was hmm, wearable?

The more I see this woman, the more I wish someone would make her and her Madonna-arms disappear.

I LOVE the older photos. Just wondering though...Does she ever wear her hair down?

I love that skinny sequin scarf thing... anyone know where I can get one like it?

^That's more than a little harsh...care explaining?

There really isn't much to explain. I admire the fact that Daphne likes to have fun with clothes, hair and make-up. Though, I'm tired of seeing her. She's everywhere.

The looks she wears are always so 'done'. Like Victoria Beckham. It's the fact that she comes from old money that designers pay attention to her. She looks so studied all of the time, like she puts in a lot of effort, but only comes out looking like the rest of her peers.

Normally I wouldn't bother to comment, though I can't understand that fact that so many seem to hold her up as some style 'icon'. I'm not explaining any more.
