OTM has already sat down with Supreme’s much buzzed about Darya Kurovska for an It-Girl Spur profile, while lensing this exclusive video for her Top 10 Newcomers berth. Why the early jump? Apart from a massive cross industry reaction which has her holding every significant show option in town, this 16 year old Ukranian has a fascinating presence in person. The thing I loved about Darya is you can literally see the wheels turning as she internalizes all those challenges a new model faces. This girl is a really fast learner and set to book the most impeccable of shows.

Such a tomboy! You really do see her observing and processing.. Hard workers always get their privileges, so good for her.

However I'm a little upset to hear she's only 16... considering it looks like they had her smoking some in her Polaroids from Supreme. I was hoping she was at least 18 or else they wouldn't have given her a cigarette.

Oh and I'm also kind of glad to hear she's really a tomboy... I wasn't sure if they'd just given her that look in her Polaroids or whether she really was one...

I don't usually blog about models... in fact Darya just became my first exception... but this girl and her tomboy style is just too well, cool, and refreshing so I cracked and featured her in my blog entry today.

Found these at http://tinemachine.blogspot.com/ the blog of photographer Christine Gatchalian, who wrote about Darya: I *heart* androgynous girls. Loving the butch queen effect she's giving me.
It was so easy to capture her personality...so effortless and thoughtful. I think it was my quickest shoot yet!
Seems like she's patriotic-she wore blue and yellow bracelets that represented the Ukraine flag.

I added more pics, since there is so much interest in Darya this season.

I rarely like models on the runway as much as I like them in print... I just don't like the way they often make-up models for the runway... they look strange half the time on the runway, if you ask me.

pretty wonderful to finally see her on the catwalk!
and I don't blame her for not looking her best at Costello, who would with such horrid styling? . she does look quite fantastic at Stærk, though, her neck looks a little tense but I'm sure that will go away in the upcoming shows, she's still very new.
