David Gandy

AFTER years of modelling them on catwalks from Milan to Paris, David Gandy has designed his own underwear collection, exclusively for Marks & Spencer. The capsule collection, entitled David Gandy for Autograph (M&S's premium department), comprises 28 items ranging from boxers and briefs to sleepwear.

"Partnering with a great British brand like M&S felt the perfect fit right now," Gandy told us. "We've been working closely for a few years, so it felt like a natural progression to collaborate with them on my own range."

Making the jump from model to designer is no easy transition, but one that he found easy to make.

"I've genuinely enjoyed every part of the process and feel proud of the results," he said. "I wanted to combine quality of fabrics, good design and fit, and an element of style with each piece to form the basic essentials for the range."

But he hasn't abandoned being in front of the camera completely though. Fans will be pleased to hear that Gandy will be modelling his designs for the accompanying campaign ("I still enjoy modelling and that has given me various opportunities to explore other things too - it will always be at the heart of whatever I do").

Gandy - who is currently the face of the M&S Collection Menswear label - follows in the footsteps of Rosie Huntington-Whitely, who first modelled for the department store before creating her own range of women's lingerie, Rosie for Autograph. It went on to become the fastest selling underwear range in the store's history, and if Gandy's own collection proves to be as popular, he's game to continue.

"I have to be honest, from sketching designs, choosing the fabrics, adding personal touches and even down to the packaging, I've been really involved and thoroughly enjoyed it," he revealed. "I'd love to do more if the opportunity came along."

David Gandy for Autograph will be launch in London on September 18, after which it will be available in stores worldwide and online.

Jennifer Lopez described him as ‘almost perfect’, but it looks like David Gandy is oh so closer to being one hundred percent.

The male model was raving in his Vogue blog about getting laser eye surgery to get ‘20/10’ vision.

‘I can see! Well I have always been able to see, but not particularly well without the help of contact lenses or glasses, but finally I had time to have laser eye surgery and I now have 20/10 vision,’ Gandy writes.

‘If you've never heard of 20/10 vision, like I hadn't, then this actually means it is a level of vision twice as clear as 20/20.

‘It's astounding - not quite the same as 20/2 - which is the level of hawks and birds of prey - but I'm guessing I won't need to be hunting small mice in fields of long grass any time soon.’

Now the model is free from glasses and contact lenses after the surgery with at Focus clinic on Wimpole Street in London with Mr David Allamby.

‘Within a few hours I had virtually forgotten that I'd even had the procedure - there was a little dryness and graininess, but that was it,’ David writes.

‘David Allamby has refined the Lasik procedure to allow very rapid recovery so even though Mum Gandy came with me to drive me home, I honestly felt as though I could have done this myself, or maybe that was just me not wanting someone else driving the car!’

David recently appeared in JLo’s First Love music video, and the singer spoke about who she had her eye during the Live With Kelly And Michael show in America.

‘Well, I would never ever name anybody, but I just did a video with this model,’ Jennifer said.

‘I don't know if you guys know him, his name is David Gandy... He's in the Dolce & Gabbana ads... I mean, this guy, he's almost perfect. He's almost perfect.’

Last week, Gandy had been doing the rounds at London Collection: Men, and though he was a firm fixture on the front row, his favourite part of the schedule was being behind the wheel.

‘The highlight? Well I'm not going to lie, aside from the shows themselves, Mercedes Benz gave me a 1965 300sl Gullwing to drive around on the last day ,’ the model blogged.

The amount of attention that the car received from passers-by was incredible and goes to show that you can't really beat classic design.
