*This thread isn't about the best movie costumes, It's regarding Designers collaborations creating Movie Costumes.
Prada For Gatsby

MIUCCIA PRADA has reworked 40 dresses from the Prada and Miu Miu archives to create costumes for the upcoming film adaptation of The Great Gatsby. The designer has collaborated with the film's head of wardrobe, Catherine Martin - wife of the film's director, Baz Luhrmann - on the Twenties-era flapper dresses worn by several actresses throughout the movie.

"I usually try not to literally reference periods in my work, because that's not the way I think," Prada told US Vogue. "But when I worked on the costumes, I realised how many pieces would become very Twenties with a little intervention and another point of view."

It's not a first-time partnership for the designer and director: Prada worked on Lurhmann's 1996 film Romeo + Juliet, designing a suit that was worn by Leonardo DiCaprio - who, coincidentally, also stars in The Great Gatsby. Lurhmann also created a series of short films for the recent Prada and Schiaparelli exhibition at the Metropolitan Museum in New York.

This latest Great Gatsby news comes following the confirmation that Tiffany & Co has provided all the jewellery for the adaptation, as worn by Carey Mulligan in her role as Dasiy Buchanan.

Originally due to premiere in cinemas this Christmas, The Great Gatsby is now set for release in July 2013.

Jean Paul Gaultier who produced 954 costumes for use in the film The Fifth Element.

Tom Ford Designed Daniel Craig's extensive wardrobe for James Bond Skyfall and previously on Casino Royale.
TOM FORD says that he's "thrilled" with the results of dressing Daniel Craig as James Bond in the new Skyfall film. The designer has created the entire wardrobe for Craig in the film - Ford's second time working with the famous 007 franchise.

"I was very excited when I was first approached by [film producer] Barbara Broccoli about dressing Daniel Craig as James Bond," said Ford. "I worked with Jany Temime [Skyfall's costume designer] on creating the perfect classic wardrobe. I have been dressing Daniel for some time and know that he looks best when simply dressed, so we did some beautiful suits, tuxedos and daywear. We didn't really modify our suits, as James Bond is a bit like our guy - classic and extremely elegant."

Pretty cliché but I loved Hubert de Givenchy's costume choices for Audrey Hepburn in How To Steal A Million, particularly The Lace Dress with Matching Jacket and Mask & the White Coat with matching Hat when she's driving her car.

Raf Simons Returns To Costume Design

RAF SIMONS will make the costumes for Sigourney Weaver and Isabelle Huppert in their upcoming film project. The Christian Dior creative director will design the outfits worn by the actresses in Body Art - explaining the appearance of both women on the front row of his Dior Couture show earlier this week.

"Isabelle plays a body artist [in Body Art]," Weaver told a writer from WWD after the show. "I play a journalist, like you - so I'm studying you."

The film - helmed by Italian director Luca Guadagnino - is based on the 2001 Don DeLillo novel of the same name, and centres around a woman's battle with grief after her husband commits suicide.

It isn't the first time that Simons has been involved with film production - nor is it, his first time working with Guadagnino. The designer created the wardrobe for Tilda Swinton in the director's previous hit film, This Is Love - which gained an Oscar nomination for its costumes.

PS: The name of the movie is "I Am Love", not "This Is Love".

The Prada costumes for Gatsby look incredible. I hope the real garments live up to the illustrations.

Tiffany designed the jewels for The Great Gatsby and the pieces made for the movie can be bought through their stores, such as Daisy's Tiara which will set you back £155,000 most of the pieces can be viewed online.

They truly did. It was all I could do not to touch them lol.

The thing that I find so entertaining about the Prada x Gatsby collaboration is that, with the exception of one look worn by Daisy (the chandelier crystal dress and stole) all of them are worn on background characters who have no names, no lines and no real importance to the story. But they look incredible for the few seconds they're all on screen.

I loved the costumes Fendi created for Barbara Carrera in Never Say Never Again, I loved how 80's power b*tch she was on screen.

I also loved the costumes Alaîa created for Grace Jones in A View To A Kill... now those were truly stunning.

I know this is old, but I absolutely adore Marlene Dietrich's costumes in Stage Fright (1950). It's the only Hitchcock film that I love. Costumes by Christian Dior.

Beautiful moment! Their clothes seem like a part of the landscape.

Frida Giannini and Massimiliano Giornetti both designed costumes for the film Rush. Frida designing for Chris Hemsworth and Olivia Wilde's characters, and Massimiliano designing for Daniel Brühl and Alexandra Maria Lara's characters.
Gucci’s Frida Giannini designs costumes for thriller Rush
Ron Howards's cinematic tale of merciless 1970s Formula One rivalry has just upped its appeal, as Frida Giannini has lent Gucci's archives to the costume department.
As English playboy James Hunt (Chris Hemsworth) puts his physical and psychological endurance to the test on the track, his supermodel wife (Olivia Wilde) will sashay around in knee-high booties, shaggy coats and wide brimmed purple hats (above) by Gucci.
"The Seventies has always been a decade that has inspired me greatly… It is hard to think of a more glamorous profession than being a racing driver in the Seventies," notes Giannini.
"James Hunt's style is full of animal sensuality, perfectly brought out by Chris Hemsworth in the period-evoking outfits. While the style of Suzy Miller, played by Olivia Wilde, is the essence of Gucci as it captures the mixture of sexy allure and innocent naturalness that defined the style of the time," Giannini continues.
Team Hunt face competition in the racing and fashion stakes, however, as it was previously confirmed that rival Niki Lauda (Daniel Bruhl) and his wife Marlene (Alexandra Maria Lara) would be kitted out by Salvatore Ferragamo on screen.
Rush will hit cinemas in September.

Gold Rush For Salvatore Ferragamo
SALVATORE FERRAGAMO has designed costumes for Rush, a biopic about the 1976 Formula One season. Two characters, Niki Lauda (played by Daniel Brühl) and his wife, Marlene (Alexandra Maria Lara), can be seen in the Italian fashion house's creations.
The film - which is released on September 13 and also features Olivia Wilde and Joséphine de La Baume - focuses on the rivalry between two of the Seventies' most famous racing-car drivers: Austrian-born Lauda and British playboy James Hunt (played in the movie by Chris Hemsworth).
Ferragamo's creative director Massimiliano Giornetti described the costumes as possessing "a stylish and subtly refined allure that is also the epitome of pure intrinsic elegance".
"I created Niki Lauda's character's wardrobe for the film with his most distinctive traits in mind: an extremely determined sportsman, obsessed with perfection, never leaving anything to chance, whether it be a strategic move or a stylistic detail," said Giornetti. "To reflect his strong and unyielding character, I chose exclusive fabrics, clean cuts and sharp forms for his clothes: from impeccably tailored, fitted Prince of Wales jackets to short suede jackets with leather trim combined with denim."

Never finished Dolls. I put it in while hanging out with some girl and all I could focus on was "Why is his car so yellow?". My company fell asleep...
