Diane Von Furstenberg S/S 2012 New York

Is Diane von Furstenberg changing her aesthetic or is she just arriving at the minimalism party as the wits are leaving?
It's foreign to me, but this season, last season and pre-fall have made me want to discover DvF. The palette for this collection is gorgeous. It of course does not have a similar volume to Consuelo Castiglioni's work, but some of the layering, the colour choices, the graphic prints and that mildly experimental but refined edge put me in mind of Marni, or maybe Dries.
Admittedly, the beginning of the collection is the best part, the prints aren't quite reeled in well enough and we start turning into Chanel Couture towards the end with the embellishment and metallics, but still, a very nice collection from a typically middle-aged country club DvF.

I think Yvan Mispelaere has been designing for her since SS11.
I agree, the palette is gorgeous.

^ I had absolutely no idea that DvF had a creative director that wasn't Diane. Fantastic!

It is such a fresh change after that chaotic circus last season that I can't even call a collection. The color palette is gorgeous, the whole vibe of the show felt very casual and laidback which is a nice direction for the DVF brand to explore. All in all, I like!

This is a new, fresh, minimalist twist on the classic DVF look. I love it! I love the color palette, and the fact that all the pieces could be worn. DVF's clothes are truly timeless, 19 year old can wear them and a 90 year old can wear them.

Some of the prints are a bit too 60s for me but generally I love this collection.

casual in general but classy. i like materials, but i'm not a fan of prints

I like prints , but not when prints give you epileptic shocks. Fall 2011 had some amazing prints , but the prints here are godawful lol

I really like some of the last outfits. First few are a bit meh, but it's a good collection overall. The hair & makeup is spot on with the clothes and it's super chic, which I love.

I used to like the DVF label, but recently it has lost it's spark. The past three seasons have just been blatant knockoff versions of other designers. Her clothes used to be much more fun.

I really like the collection, actually it's my favorite of the ones shown at NYFW so far. I wasn't a big fan of Diane before but she's growing on me. Not sure whether that's because I'm getting older and her clothes just look classy yet with a fun twist. I'm not a huge prints fan in general but I like some of those she's showing and I especially like the monochromatic combinations of blue and brown. I see several pieces that will probably land on my wish list this spring. Oh, and I also like the clutches. Nice overall. Not out of the world stunning and different but very wearable.
