How did you get started in the modeling business?
Dji: I was discovered while shopping in Paris. First I did not really believe it, and I went to the casting with my parents. I was lucky as I got a contract for Haute-Couture and for Make-up Forever Campaign.
Did you always dream of being a model?
Dji: I planned to study Law or Polytechnician as my father. But today I am lucky that I do have this wonderful opportunity to help with my image as model for humanitarian causes.
What do you like most about modeling? What do you like least?
Dji: Most I like to meet so many different cultures all over the world, and to develop interesting friendship. I can not say that I dislike something. As experienced model with my own management company I can just give a little advise. I would love to see a professional development of the fashion business, where models are more protected and where clients and agencies undertake responsibilities during the career of the very young models, this to give them solid future in a very though business. With such a professionalism everyone would benefit out of it, from the models to the agencies and last but not least the clients, who needs not only perfect looking models, but models with support and background, this to represent the product beyond the simple advertising, but to represent the client's Corporate Identity.
Have you encountered any surprises along the way?
Dji: As any other human, I have encountered surprises at my job and my private live. Especially when I was on assignments for UNESCO National Committee I was so surprised by the simplicity of many people, so warmhearted and welcoming, even living in difficult situtations.
Ever get tempted to get pulled into the party scene?
Dji: Not really. Of course I love to dance and being with friends together. But the party scene is not my world. My world is my life and my job, this to give something back of what I received from so many positive people around the world.
Have you developed any new interests since you started modelling?
Dji: My interest about other cultures which I do have since childhood has steadily grown, and I hope to be able to develop it more, as cultures, history and education are important for all of us.
What are your favourite things to do in your free time?
Dji: Reading, Fitness, making my own jewelleries, and I have my own trademark "Dji".
Out of all the places your career has taken you, where was the most memorable?
Dji: I do have several places which remains memorable. I love the mountains in Switzerland as it is so peaceful. I like South Africa, an amazing country with extraordinary sceneries. And I have been deeply touched and inspired by the Buddha Sites of Dambulla in Sri Lanka !
Do you have a mentor? Who? What is it about them that affects you? Why?
Dji: My personal entourage helps me a lot to feel protected, supported and motivated. My social environment, including my personal management is important to me.
Where do you see yourself in ten years? What could be your next career?
Dji: Hehehehehe this is the question many journalists are always asking (beside one main question as usual), and if I would know the answer, then .... But coming back on your question. I hope to be happily married and maybe having some kids. Family is important to me. About my next career... I think I have already started it, in taking engagement for humanitarian causes, this to help particularly in education, science, culture and environment. Of course I do have also other activites previewed.... but that I will let you know at a later stage.
What are your beauty secrets? How do you stay in shape?
Dji: First I think I do have an inner beauty. A smile from the heart helps everybody and keeps young. To stay in shape I regularly go to Gym.
Any advice for new models? What advice would you give other models starting out?
Dji: It is always difficult to give advise to others. But one for sure: remain yourself, and don't let you influence too much by others. Insist and believe in you, stay positive, never give up .. and a little bit luck is also necessary !
