i thought french people called them black in french---is it noir? i am serius. i dated a french guy before. i think this is the standard all over europe as my bud who is norweigian would call blacks "niger"--- which literally means black--nothing else. germans do the same thing. he referred to those of african descent as black. to get real politically correct, one could call her senegalese. but i think she was born in france, not america.

it is pronounced like the country niger when norweigians say black--- when referring to peopple, objects---even haircolor. it does not mena the same as the racially charged name. in france they call them noir. but since she is from france, i am pretty sure no one really calls her afro-american, and she is most lkely referred to as a black frenchwoman vs. african.

whatever the case is, that girl probably had no idea she said anything wrong---as negro means black in other parts of the world--not all the extra stuff.
