Do Luxury Shoppers Keep Up With Fashion Shows and Designers?

That’s such a strange comparison lol
Yeah, it is, but my logic was that cars are things that are BIG BRANDS like fashion, etc. etc. What's a better comparison? Does everyone know the history of the production company who produces the films they watch? Do you have to know ABOUT an artist to listen to their music?

I feel like the entire question is something I don't "get" and I think is a strange question in general. I mean, what does it mean if people who buy Dior products (just an example) don't know the history of the house? Maybe I'm just stuck on the "know anything about the designers of their favourite labels." I mean, what if they don't? What does that mean? Should they know more? I just feel like the question as it's proposed doesn't make much sense, imo.

it may be replaced with "what does it mean to know?"
most researchers of lightning should be well informed about the phenomenon, understanding it through technical terms into which they converted various natural elements.
they can say they know about it. but those who can say they know it could be those who have been struck by it.
(if I understand english correctly though)
the reason the former tends to be valued in many parts of this world is that it is useful and marketable.
but it's the latter that has pure, intimate, experience as lived time.

"nothing that's said is true." words include lies. words are not things themselves to which words refer. the reason poetry is jealous of music.
"be careful not to sink into the slum of words (try not to live in a linguistic slum)." - sontag
on top of that, the stories brands provide to us could include the decollation and narcissism of them.

explanation, analysis, whatever can be something abstract, signitive, and dependent, constructed upon/generated from things themselves.
nothing compared to the fertility of things themselves.
things are primary. knowledge is something second-order. this is not movable. no matter how hard I personally want to say knowledge is important.
