Does alcohol have an expiry date?

i realised today that i bought a 6 pack of johnnie walker and cola, and that its best before date was august 06, which means its 4 months past the best before date now. is it still okay to drink it? or will the contents have changed and gone all gross? the cans are unopened.. please respond!!!

it should be fine...the coke may be flat. alcohol typically doesn't go bad unless it's carbonbated (beer); hence the "aging" process on many liquors.

Well, with soda what's past experation, the carbonation will diminish. With alchohol, I'd like to say that the alchohol will diminish, except how do you explain 100-year-old wines?

I don't know!

Do what I do. Open the can. Take a sniff. If it's not offensive, take a sip!
(or be sensible and listen to pinkpalm, since, unlike me, s/he actually knows something about alchohol.)

ahh k thanks guys! i might just drink it anyway but its really annoying because i get paranoid about expiry dates and food poisonining and all kinds of stuff. but in the case of alcohol... it should be safe because its a drink rather than like eggs or something. my friends will probably drink it considering how drunk they usually are on nye

Food poisoning will not be an issue. The alcohol will kill anything that might cause disease. Like the others have said, it just might not taste as good because the coke goes flat.

It should be fine. My parents keep their alcohol forever and have never had any problems.
