After years of talking up in-season shows, Donna Karan finally practiced what she’s been preaching on Thursday. Her first Urban Zen presentation, held in the rooftop garden of the Greenwich Street building that houses the line’s store, featured 13 models in sexy, draped pieces, grounded in T-shirt dressing from the collection that’s currently in stores. “For me, Urban Zen is about bringing it to the consumer,” said Karan. “I wanted to give an immediate experience.” But not so immediate that the customers were invited to the presentation. Rather, the show was targeted toward press, dailies and Web sites that can hopefully disseminate the images and Karan’s buy-now-wear-now message, which now extends to furniture. Karen recently launched a collection of teak chairs, sofas and beds — indoor and outdoor — massive models of which are displayed in the showroom but can be scaled to fit spaces with less square footage to spare.

i love how she's going back to her core with the seven-easy-pieces idea updated for the new milennium.

Fantastic pieces, perfectly cool and loose. When I look at them, there's really something zen about it indeed, plus I just adore the draping here.
