Donnie Darko

It has a really good cast too: Jake & Maggie, Drew Barrymore, that guy from ER . . .

My theory is that since the girl that he love dies in the end, he goes back in time and make sure that he is killed from the engine, so she never will meet him and therefor she won´t die.

That was how I interpreted it too...i saw it twice (with different people each time :P) but i got it...it was weird though...Frank was creepy as hell:shock:

I think this movie is very over-rated. I was quite unimpressed when I watched it. Maybe I was expecting too much, but I just don't get the hype. Frank freaked me out so much! Also, Jake was rather plain-looking, and definitely not as enjoyable to watch as he usually is.

This was my interpretation as well. Moreover, by dying, he saves Frank, his mom and little sister, and (unfortunately) the Patrick Swayze character. I think the "wormhole" was always there. When the airplane engine falls in the beginning, it's the engine from the plane his mom and sister are in in the end. Granted, I've only seen it once, but that's my (very brief) interpretation.

I really enjoyed the film. The mood, the acting...everything came together beautifully.

yeah i kinda agree with this interpretation too.

when i watched it though, i got that frank was leading donnie throughout the film to save himself. he led donnie to eventually go back in time, thus saving his life as donnie would never shoot him at the end, and he would live. not too sure but this kinda makes sense, as well as donnie realising he has to die so everyone else could live.

did anyone else get references to god in the film too? theres the bit donnie says in the end in latin which means something to do with god will save u, and also, when theyre in the movie theatre, the film showing when they go in is the last temptation of christ. there are other bits too i think.

anyhoo, i loved this film, and i actually think it doesnt get enough praise for what it is. not only is the storyline and script brilliant, but it's shot so beautifully throughout. and the soundtrack is great  ^_^
