ah yes this proves why VS models are famous, and get paid so much - she is so much better looking than the girls in the competition! They have great figures and are very toned up, and look great in the outfits, but you can't find a face like Doutzen's anywhere.

Are they kidding with these 'models'?
Most of them are plain as hell with horrible skins. I wasn't impressed even after hair and make-up and god don't they sound dumb and vapid.

Thank god for Doutzen: she outclassed every single one of them in term of presence and beauty.
Between the new dreadful angels (except for Rosie and Manu) and the budget new girls they are lining up, what a joke VS has become.

What a joke VS has become ? They didn't become a joke just now, they have been really bad for a couple of years now. They just show that, it doesn't matter how much money they have and what they can bring to the show and how many great girls they can hire ... without brains they won't ever go anywhere.

As for the VS search, I believe there might have attended better girls than those 10 but for some reason, they didn't make it. In fact those 3 judges, don't seem to really know what they are doing when it comes to pick the right girls specially that brown haired woman that's always on the right corner of the table, that always drives me nuts with her comments and the say she talks, she must have an ego bigger than the Himalayas ... they don't even judge the models in the videos, if you ever cared to watch them, they just ask random questions.

From the 10, I'd just save 3 of them. Doutzen looked great in the video indeed, always with that marvelous smile on her face, she's in fact one of the most beautiful women on earth, so that's not surprising at all.

Nah, I don't like those girls neither. Doutzen is one of the few rare girls why I even bother to watch VSFS. The rest of them - sucks. Especially in this year. 11 angels? Come on! You can't find that number of angels not even in heaven.

This new crop of Angels and, apparently, the newly casted ones are what so off the mark that I will need an excellent reason to even bother downloading that mess.

VS isn't like what VS used to be. Now it's like the angel status has became cheap with 11 angels on the line. In my opinion, some of the new Angels are even boring. Few years ago the VS Angel status is like the most sought status in modeling world, now blah
The show's quality also has became worse from time time.
2005 was amazing, 2006 was great, 2007 was ok and 2008 was not good

I don't know if this is just me but I've felt that Doutzen has had the most freedom as an Angel. She's had a Vogue cover, Harpers Bazaar, a couple of editorials, she was apart of the V mag swim issue. I think she's been fairly busy outside the VS world. If VS drops her (which is stupid), then I don't think anything would change for her in terms of work.

^TBH I always thought VS angels.. werent THE most beautiful women on earth without the masses of caked makeup , hairstyling etc . Doutzen , along with just a few are an absolute exception. Most have sex appeal , actually all have sex appeal but Doutzen is one of those rare people who actually look GREAT without makeup or WITH NATURAL makeup [natural as in NATURAL not the 'looks natural but actually took hours to do natural'] Natural - a bit of eyeliner , lipgloss and light blush.

I really find her behaviour irritating when she does VSFS promotions though.. she acts too.. 'happy' I don't mean that she should be sad but when she promotes VS , she really acts a bit in my opinion unaturally happy and excited.. in a bad way : l

High fashion? Hmm. I don't know. I suppose I have a bias against so-called "high" fashion, so I still think that VS, whatever its shortcomings in latest model choices, is still a fantastic fit for Doutzen.

What about Sports Illustrated? It's been ages since there were any truly beautiful SI models, but that used to be quite the cachet of a supermodel, no? To be the SI swimsuit cover girl? Doutzen could make that an exciting credit again. Heaven knows that the male fans of the SI swim issue would be thrilled to see her -- thrilled, that is, to see a genuinely beautiful model there again.

it did used to be a huge deal for models. in fact, the only reason why any of us know of girls like Elle MacPherson and Christie Brinkley and Paulina Poriskova is due to their turns in the SI Swimsuit Issue. but that was a different time. it was before the internet and before the change in celebrity endorsements and also before VS. i remember at the time that VS really got huge -- it was due in large part to the huge appeal of Tyra Banks and Heidi Klum. both of whom became super famous because of their SI Swimsuit covers. the timing was perfect. they were SI girls and the main representatives for VS and they both had the charisma and charm and ambition to be proper commercial supermodels (to host awards shows, guest-star on sitcoms, do the talk-show circuit, etc etc)

after they stopped doing SI, the models choices there never really ballanced with the model choices at VS. right up until the late 1990s, SI could really launch a girl. look at Rebecca Romijn or Laetitia Casta, for example. none of the models since have had that particular charisma. that blend. and the media itself has become so over-saturated with half-naked photoshoots of celebrities and bikini candids on the blogs and whatever else .. that the idea of seeing a supermodel in a 2-piece just lost it's excitement. the exclusivity of the experience is over.


however, the past 2 years i think have signalled a bit of a turn-around for SI. they had Marisa Miller and Bar Rafaeli -- both of whom have benefited a great deal from the exposure of the SI cover. particularly Marisa, because she has been able to combine it with her VS Angel status. but she's just not the same sort of outgoing personality of Rebecca or Heidi or Tyra .. so she'll never be as successful as them in branching off into other media and becoming a true house-hold name commercial supermodel.

which brings me to DOUTZEN. i've always maintained that she is the girl who could really become a proper supermodel. she's already considered a supermodel in the fashion world. and the VS contract is making her more and more well-known. i think that a turn in the SI Swimsuit Issue would really make a difference for her. but here's the kicker. it really only matters if she lands the cover. just being inside the mag doesn't cut it. she's a perfect choice for them, though. i'm sure they've tried to court her already.

Huh ? she did almost nothing this year outside of VS. Got 3 covers, Dutch Elle, Vogue Germany and Harpers (subscribers' cover), then that campaign of Cashmere, 2 shots in the anniversary's edition of VG, then 1 or 2 shots in Vmag and this new editorial in Vogue UK and that's basically what she did the whole year. So no, she's not been fairly busy out of VS, a model like her is able to do so much more ... but I believe because VS she's not able to.
