You know, as much as I love Doutzen, I have to agree.
And it has nothing to do with dress size or curves as much as body type.
Doutzen has a strong athletic body, with swimmer shoulders, a short neck, large bones and a rectangle body type. These traits are no problem when it comes to photo-shoots, where she can twist her body or be photographed from certain angles, but the runway is unforgiving.
With this kind of body she can't pull off as many looks as other models.
The dress isn't the problem. Be honest, even in her candis or event looks, her broad shoulders and thick waist are just as apparent, it's just the way her body is built.
Edita or Lara would have rocked the dress she is so poorly wearing.
There is place for curves on the runway, but you still need to have the right body-type.
It's a bit like dancers, they look better on stage if they have long limbs and a small head. Runway models have requirements too, and Doutzen simply don't fit them.
She a great commercial model and a great editorial model, but she should just give-up on the runway, imo. As she said herself last week, she should just pick jobs for which her body work.
This Prada look definately does nothing for her!
