Doutzen Kroes

It's nice that VS gave her another event and promotional duties. She looked stunning as always.

I think Victoria's Secret is doing some bad branding lately. With every promotional event they arrive looking like dolled up Barbies and it's not pretty. Their customers are grown women who want to look and feel sexy. Barbie dolls are no rolemodels for us anymore. And all the coy interview things (not about Doutzen, I didn't watch the video) 'I was super nerdy' 'I didn't get any cards'. Such a cliche. It's like its the 1950s just with more skin showing. Come on.

Speaking of models, casting agents, Doutzen Kroes is available. The Victoria’s Secret model doesn’t have any runway shows in New York booked yet, but she’s interested.
“I'm definitely available. I love doing shows,” she said an event hosted by the lingerie-maker in SoHo Wednesday morning. “I'm available here in New York and I'll be in Europe during the European shows.”

Is it just me or does this statement come across as a little desperate for Doutzen to be announcing that she hasn't booked any jobs for any fashion shows in New York and that her schedule is completely open? Or it common for models to announce such things at the 11th hour to the general public?

Also shouldn't a seasoned model such as Doutzen at least have one or two jobs booked by now? Surely there must be some designers out there that favor her look/walk? Like some of the past houses that have booked her. I think it would be an honor for a lot designers to have her in their shows, she could bring a level of exposure that a lot of up and coming designers would love (unless it's a matter of her exorbitant paycheck that prevents her from walking a variety of shows).

As far I know the most of models are booked a this time I know it for Hilary Rhoda but maybe she gets a last call time

An honor for designers? Haven't you got the business a bit mixed up here?
I don't think it surprising if she doesn't walk any shows, she's gone up the commercial path for a long time now. And her last two shows (Prada and Giles) weren't exactly spectacular to me. That being said, I'd like to see her doing a simple, neutral show; in my opinion she shines the most when they leave her face to do the talking.

I hope you're right! I'd love to see her on the runway again.

And no rosiecheeks, I don't think I'm getting the business mixed up. I believe her presence in a show is tantamount as that of a celebrity walking for any designer. She would bring lots of media attention without detracting from the designs. And yes, I'm aware that Doutzen is not and never will be on the same level of let's say Kate Moss ....

I am 100% with you. I don't really have high expectations for FW.

For anyone who is curious what does her name looks like is Traditional Chinese: 杜晨科洛斯
