Nog maar net in de inkt van de handtekeningen onder het contract door. Nog maar net is de exclusieve verbintenis met het cosmeticahuis L'Oréal met champagne beklonken of de 21-jarige Doutzen Kroes uit Earstermar staat al in de studio's in Parijs. Voor opnamen die haar drie jaar lang wereldwijd samenbrengen met beroemde topmodellen als Beyoncé, Clausia Schiffer, Leatitia Casta en Heather Locklear die ook het gezicht van L'Oréal zijn.

"Ik kan het nog steeds niet bevatten" jubelt Doutzen Kroes op het vliegveld van Parijs. "Ik ben er vreselijk blij mee, het lijkt alsof in op een roze wolk zit". Drie jaar is Doutzen een belangrijk gezicht van een toonaangeven cosmetivahuis, heeft ze een 'groot contract'en heeft ze toch minder werk. Want in de overeenkomst is presies het aantaldagen aangegeven dat ze voor L'Oréal in actie komt. Het zijn er slechts 15. Dat stelt haar gerust, zeker in het hectische bestaan dat ze nu heeft. In allerijl vloog ze begin deze week van Dusseldorf naar Parijs voor de afrondende contractbesprekingen, bijgestaat door adviseurs van Paparazzi uit Amsterdam. Na de bekrachtiging met campagne moet ze gisteren onmiddelijk aan de slag voor de eerste opnamen in de Franse studio's van L'Oréal.

"Het is een flink bedrag" Doutzen maakt er geen geheim van een lucratief contract te hebben gesloten. Maar het franse cosmeticahuis heeft wel exclusiviteit bedongen. De schoonheid ui Eastermar is de komende drie jaar aleen het gezicht van L'Oréal. Voor andere cosmeticahuize zal ze niets meer mogen doen. Doutzen is in korte tijd uitgegroeit tot een topmodel. Het begon met de inzending van enkele door haar zusje Rens tijden een zeiluitje genomen foto's. Modellenbureau Pararazzi begeleide haar op weg naar de top. Na wat werk voor Nederlandse bladen volgde al snel de catwalk, In NY, Milaan, Parijs, overal werd ze een bekende verschijning.

De loopbaan in de glamourwereld kon al niet meer stuk. "Het was al geweldig dat ik zover ben gekomen. Ik zit nu bij de sub-top! Dit is echt een groot contract. Groot met wat ik ermee verdien maar vooral groot als je het hebt over versterking van mijn positie in de modellenwereld."

Op een opmerkelijke wijze houdt Doutzen stand in de glamourwereld. Ze blijft nuchter, ze laat zich niet de kop gek maken. "Misschien komt dat ook mede door mijn friese afkomst". Waar ze ook gaat op de aardbol, ze blijft vrijwel dagelijks contact houden met het thuisfront.
