wasn't purechris trying to get some before ? maybe he could lent or hand over one of them to you ? or at least provide some practical tips.

i know he doesn't have one, but it's true he may have some tips...

http://www.stockmanparis.com/ these are most commonly used

thanks for the link...:flower:

i also keep reading sewing blogs talk about forms with collapsible shoulders that they rave about...

i'd like to get one secondhand...
i like vintage ones and i like the idea of reusing something...

my dress form is from Barney's visual dept...
it's a pretty good souvenir of an iconic time in fashion retail history...

it's come in so handy and I'm using it all the time ...
yay!

I found my dress form at a junk shop. It's a pretty sturdy construction with panels that shift to your shape held in place with wing nuts. I got a bonus unfinished victorian dress out of the bargain.

I inherited a dress form that was made for my great grandmother. It's a plaster of Paris framework with cotton wadding and a canvas shell over the top. This is what they still do for couture clients as part of the service. I decided to hold onto it in case I have to drape/tailor for an older woman's figure, and it has come in handy for just that. She was tall and busty.

In the end you may have to customise any dress form you get so that it mimics your shape. As I did mine.

And yes it is a necessary tool for draping your own designs properly.
