Dries Van Noten Menswear S/S 2023 Paris

It's far from his best collection, but at least there's some serious tailoring going on, and some pieces are quite desirable... Definitely an improvement on the last couple of seasons. That being said I really struggle with the motocross/cowboy/ugly boots combo... Why??

It could just be my perception, but I feel a good bit of the magic was lost after he sold to Puig.

This just feels a bit flat and clumsy, especially since Dries was such a menswear powerhouse in the past.

Very trendy. Trying to hard in a way…
It lacks the nonchalance, the evidence of Dries. It’s hard to believe looking at this that a man would look at it and say « I want to look like that »!
Look 2 is great tho.

It’s nice, nicer than what it was for a while. But it’s lacking something precious, which I always liked in a dries collection. The tube dress for instance is so crude, this could have been elevated. There’s a lot of styling tricks here that don’t benefit the overal show

There are some nice looks, but I think it's a weak collection. I wouldn't have expected Dries to become a designer chasing current trends but here we are now, with Dries trying to approach Gen Z's. I feel like the charm of this label is gone and there may be only one reason behind that. But good luck selling the perfumes and lipsticks!

What do you think the charm of Dries is?

First part feels like a Gaultier second line for men. And the end looks (which are not available here as I write this) are very Comme des Garçons...I specially mean this look:

Where is Dries Van Noten???

He’s doing logos now, and recycling past prints? And cowboy boots?

It’s safe to say that he’s lost steam & given up, which is fine after all these decades of being one of the top designers in the industry, but damn…this is bad.

If I were actually buying designer clothes these days, I’d skip past him and save my money for Lemaire instead.

Terrible casting overall — too juvenile looking to pull off these clothes imo.

It's quite difficult to put in words but I think it had something to do with his slightly eccentric silhouettes and extraordinary clashes of colours and prints. Everything was more or less wearable yet the overall proposition was recognizably Dries Van Noten. He also had his own style and didn't really follow the others. Last but not least, there was some kind of joyful vibe coming from the clothes, it could be felt that Dries really enjoyed the design process. Now, his latest shows feel quite superficial and hollow in a way, at least to me, and this one is just bland. There's almost no soul.

not his best for sure, couple of interesting bits.

Since his company is no longer independent, he has to make compromises. Maybe that's why he try to be trendy.
