I was going to say my critique, but then I looked back at the past few post pandemic collections and it's applicable to those too so I guess the issue for me here is that he's straddling too close to the unrewarding trajectory the brand was already heading in.

I can't believe I'm looking at a Dries Van Noten collection. It doesn't look like it one bit. The prints are hideous, I'm sorry. I agree with a few of you, some looks reminded me of a Marimekko x Uniqlo collab, and it's not a compliment.

Maybe he wanted to go for something very graphic like DvN SS16, without copying.
I don't know.

Some looks made me think of Pucci, others of Christian Lacroix.

I will rewatch in a couple of days.
That's the 6th show today and Stella's techno just destroyed my brain.

For a collection that is so much about prints and colors, the best pieces are the grey embroidered and the off white ones.
At some moments the color thing is a journey between Antonio Marras and Manish Arora.

Replacing Dries was always going to be a fool's errand because no one else has his ease of juxtaposition. I can see what Julian Klausner was aiming at here, it just lands with a leaden thud.

This collection is bad because most of the problems lie around the waist area, either from the hems of the tops or from the awkwardly short pants.
The colors are very summery, but they come off as too chameleonic, too flamboyant, lacking the dull shades of colors, yet elegant, mature quality where oriental glamour meets the moody urban spirit from OG Dries.

This is sad.It looks like he lost his confidence and went to go Look at other designers (lacroix who i love) This is a 180 from last season. Something got to his head. There's some great things, I love the satin jackets with black embroidery beautiful. And those shoes 😫

I liked this collection much more than last season. We all miss Dries, but I think we need to be a bit more open to the change. I always see us, collectively, in this space hold a bit of resentment because a house is not what we've always known it to be as things change- which essentially is fashion.

I thought the use of print felt connected to Dries in an interpretive way. He's doing well enough, after being called upon to fill some pretty big, legendary shoes. I liked the collection. The use of color, print and sparkle were well balanced for me.
