Sorrenti works were inspired by Bacon in 1997-1999. these are not the only one photos. there are much more in ARena Homme + for example, but i don`t have scans now. when ill see something( in my collection also) - ill post here for sure

Very interesting! Thanks again

OH I loved this ! These are all very interesting...It would be nice if we could find the paintings that inspired Sorrenti though...:woot:

I like Meisels version more.

Meisel's one was did 10yrs ago and the movie itseld was taken as an inspiration ...
the one by Thompson is, IMO, a response to McQueen SS04 collection - which was inspired by the same movie and was def. one of the BEST show of this season ...
But i, too, prefer the one by Meisel ...

thanks a lot ASF ...

i think McQueen show hadnt any references to the movie and Thompson ed its the reminiscence on McQueen show ( background, guys, styling , mood, colours, models) and on the movie for sure.

ahh i just looked onece again on both eds, and i realised, what technically Thompson ed is much involved and complicated than Meisel`s one. Look at their poses, plus two models from here ( Liisa and Jessica) were professional dancers, what i can`t say about anyone in Meisel`s ed: they`re just tired and drained there, they`re even not lookin` like dancing.

you're kidding ASF, aren't you ?
the McQueen ss2004 collection IS a reference to that movie !!!!

PARIS, October 10, 2003 – It takes a showman like Alexander McQueen to get the lifeblood pumping back into fashion performance. His show—staged in the Salle Wagram, a nineteenth-century Parisian dance hall—was an exuberantly hilarious reenactment of Sydney Pollack's Depression-era film They Shoot Horses, Don't They? Choreographed by Michael Clark over two weeks of intensive rehearsals in London, the narrative involved dancers, models, and audience in a visceral celebration of exquisitely glamorous clothes.

do you remember the movie? i don`t even remember any dance there. there was only the survival game and buck and wing of old sailor in the beginning. i reconsidered it a while ago
