Haru, are you in any way affiliated with the fashion industry? HAHA. Connections galore? Kidding.

Do you guys think the organizers of fashion shows really only book the "younger" and more "famous" girls? I'm no fashion expert, but I'm noticing that the older girls don't get booked as much. They don't look worse than the younger ones; in fact, they look better!

Just a thought.

Let's go Prada!

i think it is because they don't want to do catwalks anymore. Collectively, all top models will switch their careers to editorial and ads from catwalks. Catwalks are normally for new models. Besides, catwalks don't pay much to models and don't help them to become housename as well. Having said that, there are no housenames in models anymore. I am excited about the prada show!! I hope Elise will be the face of Prada again.

^that would be so great if she will be the Prada face again :buzz:

On top of that, what do you mean by more famous models??? Elise Crombez is famous enough! She was all over the fashion world in 2003 n 2004. Daria wasn't as powerful as Elise back then. Elise just gained the cover of Vogue Germany.

I'm excited to see Elise at Prada!

Re: older models not doing runway shows anymore... I think it's just because fashion weeks are exhausting and they don't really need the exposure, but I don't agree that it's because it doesn't pay well... Some designers don't pay their models, and prices vary a lot, but a model can make a lot of money with runway shows, especially if she's exclusive or if she goes back to the runway for a designer in particular

Ooh I love quick replies.

Pealike, do you mean the older models turn down the fashion shows to do editorials?

See, where I'm from, especially because we don't get Italian or French or German versions of Vogue, household names are the ones we see in fashion shows or in American/Canadian versions of Vogue nowadays. And who's all over American/Canadian Vogue? Freha or Stam or Giselle or Natasha Poly. Not that they don't look good, but we miss the Elise days.

Correction: I'm desperate for more Elise days!

Gisele was there before Elise, And Stam and Natasha are starting to be part of the "older" models, except they're still at the peak of their career... I like a lot of the new girls on the runway, but I think the Elise/Eugenia days were the best editorial-wise, especially in Meisel's case :ninja:

Couldn't agree more about the Meisel comment!

the thing is, most of the models from Elise's heyday has either become supermodel(Daria) or kinda disapper(Eugenia, Tiiu n Hana). A model's career is not long-lasting, they only have two ways after years of modeling. Unfortunately, Elise has not turned into a supermodel stardum like Liya and Daria. One of the reason was Elise has never made it into the US market. She was not in Vogue US as often as Daria. Conversely, she was all over Vogue Italia. The other thing is, Elise has never conquered as many A-lists campaigns as Daria. But Elise is as amazing as usual, she now still rocks, though not as powerful as before. Let's not forget that Elise was once the world's best model after Gisele.

another thing i think why elise is not as strong is probably because she WAS too popular in 03,04. Now that clients get tired of her. Maria Carla, has never been as powerful as Elise, but her longevity is wonderful.

Prada FW08
