Elizabeth - The Golden Age

^ Quite. The costume featured in the original film was just breathtaking....literally....those corsets looked mean.

AHH! Two hours! Only two hours til I see it!

The costumes agreed where great (!) And I hope Cate does own more then a nod this time around too. She was totally robbed last time (!)

Argggggh!

I finally saw it last night and was ever so disappointed. The cast-for the most part-were inimitable and just fantastic. Also the costume/hair/make-up etc. was the usual standard but the film, as a whole, was quite average. It was cheesey and overly melodramatic at times and very biased...but then again if the English weren't portrayed as "heroes" and the Spanish as "villains" the audience probably wouldn't feel much pride at the end of the film...

:judge:

*sigh* I'm so disappointed...

^ yeah that's what i had heard re: melodrama before i saw it. but i loved the first one so much (fresh faced cate blanchett!!) that i went and paid my dues and saw it in theater as well. i think if you go in there with a lower expectation and just enjoy the setting, costume, etc its not bad. but it doesn't quite measure up to the feeling of awe i had felt when i saw the first elizabeth years ago. though cate blanchett still kicks *** - i htink you prob saw it in commercials but that one scene where she yells at the spanish ambassador is probably the best scene.

^ Def!!!

Ahem....

[Paraphrasing here..] "I too can command the wind Sir! I have a hurricane in me that will strip Spain bare if(should?) you dare to try me!"

Grrr....Cate was furrrious.

I saw this movie yesterday...Cate was brilliant (as always) the costumes were great...but the story was well very typical. It's something straight out of your sixth grade history book. (Well sort of. :p)

but then again if the English weren't portrayed as "heroes" and the Spanish as "villains"

And this is why.

Cate was a tour de force...

Eddie Redmayne was pure hotness....

all of the acting was excellent...

the costumes and set were breathtaking..

BUT THE STORYLINE HAD LESS SUBSTANCE THAN COTTON CANDY!
