Absolutely love the intensity of the first cover and the slight 80s allure I’m getting, it’s divine. Nice to see Rebecca Leigh Longendyke on the cover of Elle France for the fashion special. Not the biggest Cass Bird fan but I’m excited for this!

ELLE France seems to come alive after about every 8 issues with these classic Gilles Bensimon-ish super single story that makes it easy to forgive them despite their always hideous supermarket flyer art direction. And the same goes for Cass: She seems to have been on a stellar streak lately. Her coverstory for July/August remains one of the best of the year. And when compared to this equally superb shoot, she’s also proving how effortlessly versatile she can be— going from a more stylized sensuality of the former one to a commercial sexiness with this one (of which the superb Doutzen x Lachlan shoot for Vogue Nederland). Sometimes, it’s just enough that a photographer knows how to retouch or hire people that know how to retouch, with such finesse these awfully amateur days. She’s restoring my hope in fashion photographers— and she would a great jolt of energy to Samara’s chronic fashion depression…

(Thought Rebecca was Abbey Lee… Then realized how much she resembles a fusion of Abbey Lee and Kate. Gorgeous woman.)
