ONE ELLE OF A TANTRUM

THERE is nothing uglier than a supermodel in a strop - as Elle Macpherson proved at Elle magazine's 21st birthday bash on Thursday.
The 43-year-old mum-of-two threw a terrific tantrum when Claudia Schiffer, 36, turned up on the arm of actor Rupert Everett - believing her younger catwalk rival had "stolen her thunder".
First Elle, who is nicknamed "The Body", refused to take off her coat - in case her black dress didn't outshine Claudia's stunning silver Versace gown.

Then, fearing her looks didn't match up either, she demanded to be smuggled out of the back door.

Our spy heard the Aussie babe shriek: "I knew she'd be the centre of attention. Look at her with him (Rupert) on her arm. It gives her the edge. I didn't know she'd be here. I want to leave. I want to leave now!"

At the party hosted by Donatella Versace in her store on London's Sloane Street, Elle was heard complaining: "I know my hair is great, I love my hair. But Claudia's looks better.

"My hair looks rubbish compared to hers - it's been groomed for hours and mine is just natural."

Despite showering Elle with compliments, her poor flunky couldn't persuade her to stay.

Our spy tells us: "It was hilarious. Elle was hiding her face behind her mac and kept looking into the mirror and pouting and adjusting her hair, saying, 'You've got to get me out of here, please, please'."

Not exactly model behaviour, is it?

Midlife crisis? Neurotic fear of getting old and no longer being able to keep up with other/younger women? Maybe that "who is "the body" dispute with Heidi Klum got to her? PMS? Or maybe just a bad/nervous day?

I`m not surprised and think Elle is becoming a definite candidate for tantrums.

But I don`t judge her and don`t think it is -that- bad. I think every women has at least once been to a party on a day where she felt bad about her self or insecure and projected these feelings on another women`s looks.

Happens to the best of us :flower:

Could you please post pictures of Elle and Claudia from that night?

It seems so silly and childish of Elle to throw such a tantrum, they are both stunning women.

Ooooh... I DO think that Claudia looks stunning, though. :innocent:

Oh, to be in a business when everything is about looks. Stressful... but also very vain.

Mmmm....Claudia does look fabulous. But, then again, I personally think Claudia is the prettier of the two. She has such an adorable face.

With that said, Elle looks very cool. And I prefer her 'messy' hair.

Poor Elle should really stop trying to compare herself with younger women...It's a losing battle. No matter how hard you excercise and how many face creams you use, you can't turn back time.

Gawd, I'm one to talk though. I'm 20 years old and I freak out if I think I see a line coming in

Wow. Can you imagine being that beautiful and STILL being so insecure? If I saw Claudia at a party, I'd be like, "Heck yes!!! Claudia is here!" and suck up the fact that I know I will look like a swamp creature from a Shrek movie next to her. Party on!

Models can't help but be insecure - they work in a business where everybody tells them what is wrong with them all day long. (ie - bad angles, better/worse features, not thin enough, not 'in' enough) I've noticed with all of the models I've met, they're all extremely aware of their faults (no matter how small) and it's because everyone around them continually points them out to them. (And also, to be a good model, you have to know so that you can make the shot turn out better.)

Still, poor Elle. Has anyone seen Friends with Money? This news report made me think of the Frances McDormand character's pre-menopasal tantrums..

Uhhh.....to be fair, Elle's hair didn't look so great but the tantrum sounded hilarious, if it happened that is :D

I always thought Elle had a strong head on her shoulders. If this is true,
it's a shame. Both of them looked stunning.....

They've gotten by on their looks for their entire lives. As they get old they lose their identity in a way. It wouldn't surprise me if Elle were to be that insecure.

They both look like crap to me. Nothing appealing about seeing Claudia's rib cage, hip bones and kidneys showing through the dress's material. And Elle's hair doesn't look natural it looks unwashed.

Who knew Claudia was younger?

Not me

I doubt this story is true BUT Elle McPherson isn't a women's women. She comes alive around men.

Claudia looks like the flawless, pretty & boring doll that she is. Elle looks cool & edgy she really didn`t have any reason to run away from Claudia!
