i-Profile: Emma Maclaren
Worcester sauce lovin’ Emma Maclaren is the leggy blonde who would do anything for a date with Andrew Lloyd Webber. Fact.
A self-professed homebody, Models 1′s most in-demand model is not only supremely easy on the eye, she’s hot stuff in the kitchen and has the voice of an angel. Ticking every box any boy might have, achieving more in a few months than most models do in their entire careers, this aspiring artist was scouted aged thirteen, bare-faced whilst wandering around Birmingham’s annual Clothes Show Live. Oblivious to just how beautiful she is, Emma’s charm is spell-binding and her attitude heart-warming. With skin as pale and as soft as a peach, illuminated by cascading fine golden locks, Emma looks like a fallen angel and walks like a vixen!
Unaffected by the unforgiving nature of the high-fashion modelling industry, this fair West Midlands maid remains wide-eyed. Her friends describe her as loving, loyal and creative and her agent says she is ‘a dream to look after’. Her book now boasts editorials from Vogue Germany, Vogue Russia, Elle, L’Officiel and Harper’s Bazaar, and campaigns for Bottega Veneta, Moschino Cheap & Chic, Burberry and Emanuel Ungaro. It’s game, set and match for homegirl and she’s only twenty! The only advice Miss Maclaren would offer to anyone out there pursuing a dream? “Just be humble.” Now that’s hot.
When do you feel the most beautiful?
When I have been pampered by my personal beauty therapist – my gorgeous sister.
What is your earliest memory?
I remember being very young (3 or 4 years old) and my mum used to dress my older Sister and I the same. We were often nicknamed ‘The Twins’, wearing identical outfits and being of a similar height, but now I am 6 inches taller than her!
What has been your proudest moment to date?
Achieving a fragrance and beauty contract in the same year was a very proud moment for me. I was often told that these would be one the best achievements in a model’s career. I am very privileged to be the face of the Burberry Brit fragrance and for Max Factor make up.
Who are your favourite stylists and photographers to work with?
David Sims, Craig McDean, Solve Sundsbo, Julia Kennedy, Alex White.
Who would you like to work with one day?
I would love to be able to work with a truly highly acclaimed photographer such as Mario Testino, Patrick Demarchelier or Paolo Roversi.
How do you keep your focus when striding down a catwalk?
Focus on the end of the runway, where all the photographers are placed. I say to myself, “be confident, strong and sexy”… and of course “show off those clothes!”
What has been the most embarrassing thing that has happened to you whilst modelling?
The Autumn/Winter 2009 season that I walked for Paul Smith in London, half way down the runway my heel broke off my shoe! I continued walking and kept my balance quite well, but I remember walking back and seeing my heel in the middle of the catwalk and feeling firstly embarrassed, but more upset as there’s always that fear that you might disappoint the designer you are walking for.
What are your top 5 beauty products of all time?
1. Espa Replenishing Face Treatment Oil
2. Lucas Papaw Ointment
3. Max Factor Lash Extension Effect Mascara
4. Rodine by Recine luxury hair oil
5. All things Sanctuary
