Biography
Emma Summerton's Polaroid projects first developed as a series of visual love letters to her partner. Now translating to fashion commissions, her playful and emotive images use colour, scale and texture to tell stories with a modern graphic edge.
On graduating from the National Art School in Sydney, Australian-born Emma Summerton began work as a photographic assistant, gaining notoriety with her first major client Australian Vogue. Moving to London in 1998, Emma went on to assist Turner Prize-nominated artist Fiona Banner before building up her own portfolio of work for publications such as i-D, Vogue, Elle and10. Alongside collaborations with fashion clients such as Yves Saint Laurent, Agent Provocateur and Selfridges, Emma is currently busy working on her own book containing five years’ worth of unpublished self-portraits.
