Emma Watson

Yeah, my friend's a first-year at Brown says that there are many people gossiping about her and not necessarily saying kind things, although she's been "nothing but nice."

Well, young people always have to say rude things; it's always out of jealousy. I'm glad Emma's not outwardly showing her displeasure with the other students. :] Shows how classy she is.

Thats a real shame and nasty - they should give her a chance, probably jealous!

Well it's official. Emma will launch a clothing line with the ethical clothing company People Tree. It'll launch in February.

Is the first pic from the range. It's a teenage based collection.

Knitwear, cotton t-shirts, jersey dresses and poplin shorts are among the items Watson has had a hand in designing.
Her range also includes some more bizarre items, including "bohemian hand embroidered bed throws, recycled sweetie wrapper jewellery, banana fibre slouchy beanies and head scarves

It is annoying I suppose, but she'll do great things for People Tree in terms of publicity. I'm glad she's chosen such an ethical company to do it with.

Dreams Do Come True! Emma Watson to Design Clothing Line

September 17, 2009

We could barely contain our excitement when we heard through the rumor mill that our lovely August cover girl Emma Watson was to be launching a clothing line designed exclusively for teens, so imagine our delight when the official announcement dropped in our inbox this morning! The capsule collection for People Tree -- the British purveyor of Fair Trade fashion that works to create livelihoods for individuals in some of the world's most marginalized communities by using hand weaving, knitting and embroidery -- is appropriately called Love from Emma. The spring/summer 2010 lineup will be comprised of 26 women's looks (plus 15 men's styles for all the Ron Weasleys in your life), and you can expect lots of casual-chic basics like 100% organic and Fairtrade certified cotton t-shirts and jersey dresses, as well as quirky lifestyle accessories ranging from bohemian hand embroidered bead throws to banana fibre slouchy beanies and head scarves befitting of the Brown frosh Emma. While we got concerned when we realized that the collection, which hits stores in late February, will only be available in countries where People Tree currently has outposts (read: the EU and Japan), we were relieved to learn that People Tree will be opening up a special e-commerce site to ship orders to the States. You can even sign up now at peopletreeyouth.co.uk to get up to the minute information on the collection!

Emma is doing it for a cause not because she wants to have her own fashion line like everyone else. good for her

yeah, that's why i don't mind it that much either. and those articles don't really say that she was very involved in the designing, right? she's more of a "spokesperson" or model (with a famous name) for this...besides, i really like that cardigan she's wearing in the picture

I think she was pretty involved, actually. I'm sure she helped pick out designs, fabrics, yes and no'd on different colors. I guess that's all you really do when you aren't a designer and you simply 'collaborate'.

I love the stuff on People Tree. I can't wait until they start shipping to the US again. I just wish Fair Trade/organic stuff wasn't so expensive. =[

The celebrity designer is still irritating to me but atleast the clothing doesnt look butchered.

I recycle..I should start my own line

I really dislike celebrity clothing lines, but since it's an eco-friendly line... I'll partly forgive her. :flower: And that she doesn't seem like a fame-hungry girl.

I'm totally okay with it, honestly. Emma has earlier expressed that she doesn't and have no interest in doing any "designer-collaborations" for her own ego. She will only do it for a good cause. Fair Trade is a very good cause. I don't mind designer-collaborations as long as it's for good causes. It's only a good thing if celebs are willing to "lend" out their fame for good causes. It's all the celebs creating "designer" clothing lines, which really just means they have someone designing for them and the clothes is usually just as expensive as "real" designer but no where the quality.

As a design student I will refrain from giving me full view on celebrity fashion lines.... Even if it is eco-friendly, I can't stand the idea of them. Though you can says it's 'slightly' better, they still irk me. No matter who the celeb is, I dislike them (okay, I can think of two twins who I think do a actual proper job and deserve one).

Though I am curious to see where it goes, maybe I'll like it! It does have me mildly curious to see whatever she comes up with...

I agree 110%, actually. There's no actual work/labor done on the celebrity's part. Being someone with no design experience, I could go in and 'collaborate' with a designer.

Anybody know who makes the stripey top and the white t-shirt she is wearing in the recent photos?
