Let's hear it for the women!

Elle's Women in Hollywood issue (available on newsstands Oct. 16) celebrates nine women who have made significant contributions to the film industry.

This year's honorees are Sarah Jessica Parker, Octavia Spencer, Cate Blanchett, Kristen Wiig, Uma Thurman, Elle Fanning, Emma Watson, Shirley MacLaine and Susan Sarandon.

Here's a sneak peek at what Parker, Spencer, Watson and Fanning said about their personal lives, careers and making it as a woman in Hollywood:

"I just knew, from the moment I read Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone that I was meant to play that role," she says of the character Hermione Granger. "I put one of the Potter films on the other night. And it was amazing to me that I had done all of that. I have to remind myself every now and then."

Elle Fanning, Emma Watson to Be Honored at Women in Hollywood Awards

The fashionable event will also honor Shirley MacLaine, Sarah Jessica Parker, Octavia Spencer and Uma Thurman.

The 19th Annual Women in Hollywood Celebration will take place this year at the Four Seasons Beverly Hills Hotel on Monday, Oct. 15.

Stylish Oscar winners Cate Blanchett, Susan Sarandon, and Octavia Spencer, will be honored along with Elle Fanning, Sarah Jessica Parker, Uma Thurman, and Kristen Wiig.

Harry Potter star Emma Watson will receive the Calvin Klein Collection Emerging Star Spotlight Award. Shirley MacLaine will receive the L'Oréal Paris Legend Award.

ELLE magazine, Calvin Klein Collection and L'Oréal Paris, along with David Yurman and Lexus, are sponsors of the event, which is always one of the most designer-heavy red carpets to kick off the 2013 awards season.

These nominees join a prestigious list of previous honorees incuding, Jennifer Aniston, Viola Davis, Michelle Pfeiffer, Freida Pinto, Stacey Snider, Barbra Streisand, Naomi Watts, Evan Rachel Wood and Elizabeth Olsen.

I think it's safe to say that you CAN trust the paparazzi/candid photos of her. ;P

Clothing-choices aside, I think most paparazzi/candid photos of her show her as someone who has mostly clear skin and really petite.. The impression I get comparing her paparazzi/candid photos to her photoshoot photos is that they usually don't really do much work on her photoshop-wise (no drastic changes in most of her photoshoots).. Did you mean something along those lines or am I completely off the mark?

For some actresses, I feel like the difference between paparazzi/candid photos to photoshoot photos to red carpet photos are huge.. I don't feel that way when I look at Emma Watson and Emma Stone.. There are changes but nothing huge, IMO..

Again, Emma is NOT petite and certainly not "really petite". SHE'S 5'6' PEOPLE!

When she's papped around other people (aside from when she's with her friend, Amy), she looks like the smallest person in those paparazzi/candid photos. And I'm also going on what people who have met her said: small frame, shorter than expected, small ribcage, delicate wrists etc.

You can be "of average height" and still have a petite frame. Emma is small-figured, certainly; I don't think that it's wrong to call her petite.

I was born with a genetic defect called Turner's Syndrome. One of it's physical effects is short stature-- I'm 4'10". And small otherwise too. So it's hard not to get emotional when someone above average height is called petite. Like, "If they're petite, what would you call me?" I know we're not allowed to talk about weight on these boards, so "small frame" might be the best phrase to use here.

It does explain a lot. Don't worry about it, and I do get why that would make you emotional. I'm really sorry if I in some way 'insulted' you with my terms as 'petite'. Take care!
