I'm not surprised that people would be bothering/staring/pestering/taking photos/following her. On one hand I understand that they're curious, I would be too, but honestly it's totally disrespectful. I don't see how she's going to be able to enjoy her experience and concentrate on her studies. It worked for Natalie Portman, then again Natalie Portman wasn't as big as Emma during her time at school (at least in my opinion -- Harry Potter is a monster, and during Natalie's time in school she wasn't as hugely famous as she is now, despite Star Wars).

I read that Bonnie Wright (Ginny) said that Emma was having a "tough time" at school. I hope things will look up for her. Resorting to a bodyguard is pretty ridiculous, assuming that it is true.

Why can't celebrities have a normal life, outside their jobs?
It just makes me kind of angry. If someone "famous" came here, I would treat them as I treat anyone else, with respect, and would be cordial. You don't see people freaking out over strangers.... it's just weird.
Because after all we really don't "know" them/celebrities.
(if you do on a personal level, that's one thing...)
Anyways, what I'm trying to get across is, I think it's okay to want to meet them. But stalking...is just unnecessary. She's trying to learn.
If your dying to get a picture taken, maybe go to an event she's going to be at. Where she's there to promote her job. (Don't they have fan sections for red carpet events...or premieres?) Or even on the set of a movie...if they have a meet and greet planned. Take a picture then.
But if they look busy and are trying to study...I bet being asked to take pictures would be kind of annoying.
because, if everyone did that how would she study?

...Sorry for my rant. I just kind of feel bad for "celebrities" who want to have a normal life outside their jobs.
Sadly, I know and understand, that privacy goes out the window once you get into that sort of job. It's just rather unfortunate.

Actually, Star Wars was huge when it first came out. I remember people lining up outside the theatre, dressed up, with sleeping bags, etc. a day in advance. The franchise was definitely just as big, if not bigger.

The difference is that Emma publicized it too much. She kept discussing it in every interview, starting almost a year and half before she went. If you're going to tell the whole world to the point where we know the school, your major/concentration, that you're going to live in dorms, etc. -- you're going to attract attention.

But at least pictures have died down. I don't think there have been any real paparazzi shots outside of her orientation week.

She said in a previous interview she was just going to wear "sweats and Topshop" at college.
