Emma Watson

i think with michelle's haircut emma would look much better.

anyway.... if she likes it its ok.. after all is her hair...

I love Michelle's hair, it's beautiful and it suits her perfectly... I'm just not convinced Emma suits the short hair, but perhaps I'll change my mind once it grows into the same length as Michelle's...although we'll have to go through that weird Carey Mulligan length first!

Emma Watson's making magic with her eco-style

Harry Potter star Emma Watson will unveil her new collection of ecologically sound fashion at Prince Charles's Garden Party To Make A Difference.

The 20-year-old actress is the latest big-name backer for the event and will show the clothes she has helped design for fair trade fashion company People Tree.

Her autumn-winter designs will be unveiled next week, with Watson giving the first exclusive preview here, right. But visitors to the Prince's eco-fest will get the chance to see what will be in the shops next spring.

Watson said: “I'm so thrilled that People Tree will be showing the spring-summer collection at the garden party. I think the Prince of Wales's initiative is such a brilliant idea and I'm thrilled.”

Watson became a creative adviser to London-based People Tree after admiring one of its T-shirts and being introduced to its founder, Safia Minney.

The actress has recorded a greeting for the event but she will not be able to attend in person as she will be continuing with her studies at university in America.

People Tree organised the fashion show after organisers of the garden party made contact.

Company spokesman Antony Waller said: “We suggested doing something with Emma's collection because the garden party is an event for families and people of all ages.”

I love Emma's line with People Tree... its so different then what most "celebrity lines" are like because at least with her clothes they are made sustainably and ethically plus they actually are wearable.

I have to admit, I'm really not a big fan of Emma's new hair. It's her hair though, so who cares? :p She has really nice style, and I think she's a good roll model, and she seems really down to earth!

From SnitchSeeker,

SnitchSeeker will have more exclusive photos and coverage from Emma's line late next week, so stay tuned.

From People Tree's website,

New collection endorsed by Emma Watson - launches Wednesday!

From the Guardian.co.uk, posted on Friday 20 August 2010, written by Lauren Cochrane..

Style wizard Emma Watson casts her magic over ethical fashion

She remains best known for playing the youthful wizard Hermione Granger in the Harry Potter films. But now Emma Watson is weaning teenage shoppers away from mass-produced chainstore clothes in favour of ethical fashions made on a small scale in some of the world's poorest nations.

Watson's latest collection for People Tree, which works using strict Fairtrade and environmental guidelines, will be launched at "a garden party to make a difference", a 12-day environmental festival organised by the Prince of Wales that will be held next month in the gardens of his London home, Clarence House.

Fashion experts say Watson, now 20, has a considerable amount of influence among girls and young women who have watched her gradually shed the image of the somewhat frumpy Hermione to emerge as a fully fledged fashion icon. "I think a lot of young women have grown up with her, seen her develop her style," said Emily Sheffield, deputy editor of British Vogue. "She is a classic English rose."

Traditionally, ethical fashion is a sector associated with older consumers more concerned with provenance than design. But Orsola de Castro, co-curator of Esthetica, the British Fashion Council's eco-sustainable initiative, believes this perception is changing and Watson is part of that. "We have to make ethical fashion available and interesting and glamorous for the public," she said. "Celebrity support is providing that platform."

Watson says she wants to create clothes for people of her own age, introducing younger lengths and fitted shapes to the People Tree brand. "Emma appeals to younger people and the collection has sold incredibly well on [online fashion outlet] Asos," said Safia Minney, founder of People Tree. "When clothes are worn by someone as lovely as Emma, it brings a whole new customer in."

Watson's previous collection, for autumn/winter 2010, will be for sale from Wednesday from People Tree. "Although I wasn't centrally involved in the design, I had a great fun in helping People Tree select some gorgeous Fairtrade textiles," she said. "There are even a few party dresses, such as the little black satin tulip dress which can be dressed up or down to suit any occasion."

The paradox is that while People Tree is relatively affordable – items cost as little as £20 – Watson is a highly visible fan of upmarket fashion and haute couture.

Long a Chanel favourite – she wore the label to various red carpet events from the age of 17, and now attends their shows – Watson has starred in two Burberry campaigns, with the brand's chief creative officer, Christopher Bailey, praising her "classic, effortless beauty" and "modern edge." She is now a regular on the front row at London Fashion Week, attending Burberry and Christopher Kane shows. She wore the latter's designs when she appeared on David Letterman's chatshow in the US.

Her recent dramatic haircut, shedding Hermione's curls for a gamine pixie style, brought widespread attention.

I think the bolded part is why the A/W 2010 collection is only 'endorsed' by Emma..

I love her short hair! She looks so much more like a woman with it, as opposed to as a little girl with the long hair. I think it was really good strategy for her to cut her hair; it might make people see that she is more and can be more than just Hermione Granger.

Twitter sighting:

We've just spotted @EmWatson in our Islington store - Emma bought the Bastet Cardigan. Thanks for popping in! Mens and Womens Clothing | AllSaints Clothing Store

Also, some other tidbits:

Emma was chosen by Austrailian Total Girl magazine for "Most Beautiful Role Model" in their 2010 Beautiful awards.

"You'd think after a string of massive blockbusters, Emma would want to stick with movies, but this smart cookie has decided to fill up her brains with knowledge by going to university. She hasn't let fame get in the way of living a normal life, so it just goes to show you can do anything if you put your mind to it."

^Oh my gosh that cardigan is amazing, I've been looking for a grey one just like that... looks like I might end up buying it! :)

^I know. I want it too, but since AllSaints tweeted it...I bet they will be selling out of them soon. Smart way to give their store some business. :D

It is a good marketing strategy to tweet what different celebrities are seen buying from the store it insures that they will sell garments (as if they had a hard time doing that already... not!).

People Tree's new collection endorsed by Emma is out.. Sorry but I'm posting it in 2 separate posts as there's a lot of information and a few photos + a video..

Video.. I don't know how to put it here so I put the link, hope that its ok.. The video is really good.. Depressing for the first part when you see how they live in Bangladesh but it lightens up towards the end when they show Emma modelling the clothes.. This is SS's description of the video:

The first half of the video followed Emma and People Tree founder and director Safia Minney through the rural towns of Dhaka and Bajshahi in Bagladesh this past July. They visited Swallows, the Fair Trade project that made her clothes in Bajshahi. Swallows dyed natural yarn, hand weaves fabric and hand embroidered clothing, providing work for over 200 women.

Emma greeted young Bangladeshi children, and took up a temporary job as math tutor for a day to teach basic addition and subtraction to the young minds. The Hermione Granger actress could also be seen assisting with the fabric dyeing in clothes shops, and learning how fabrics were weaved.

The second half of the video took a glimpse into Emma's photo shoot for the autumn/winter fair trade line, which took place recently in London, as well as a sneak preview of the catalogue and other new outfits. All of the footage can be viewed below.
