Emma Watson

She seems to have recycled the same look for the past three MTV Awards in a row. Right down to the shoes. I mean, she's got a cute little body; I'm sure she can pull off more than one silhouette/style. Points off, man. But her hair and make-up is gorgeous. And her speech was really sweet.

The Bling Ring is going to Cannes!!!

Sofia Coppola's 'The Bling Ring' Will Open Un Certain Regard Slate At The Cannes Film Festival

While cinephile eyes will be wearily watching the internet early tomorrow morning for the official line up of the Cannes Film Festival, organizers let out a bit of a tease today to tide everyone over. And it will involve one filmmaker making her return to the south of France.

Sofia Coppola will be bringing "The Bling Ring" to Cannes, with the festival announcing that it will open the Un Certain Regard slate at the fest. Cannes is a familiar home for Coppola who unveiled both "The Virgin Suicides" and "Marie Antoinette" previously, and the Un Certain Regard category -- which is usually reserved for edgier or more genre-driven fare -- seems like a good fit for her Emma Watson-starring film about a group of no good kids who steal from celebrities. The movie was long rumored to be part of the slate in one way or another, and this is definitely a nice kick-off to what should be/will hopefully be a killer lineup this year.

"The Hunt" and "Festen" director Thomas Vinterberg will lead the Un Certain Regard jury. The Cannes Film Festival runs from May 15-26. "The Bling Ring" opens on June 14th.

Will this be Emma's first time at Cannes? Or has she been there before for other movies?

I've decided I like the dress she wore to MTV Movie Awards, but like someone else said, it's very similiar to the other printed gown she's worn to various MTV events the last few years.

Yeah this is definitely her first time at Cannes. The only film she's been in that may have gone to Cannes is My Week With Marilyn, but if it was at Cannes, Emma didn't go.

Anyways, I can't wait to see what all "The Bling Ring" cast and Sophia wear!! :)

Like I said on the Sofia Copolla thread, I'm incredibly surprised that it didn't make the main line up after the furore there was last year over there being no female directors. I think this year there is just one female director 'In Competition' which is barely an improvement on last year. Oh well. I'm excited to see what she's going to wear.

What's the difference between the main competition and the one The Bling Ring is opening? I'm curious, because that's always confused me in the past?

Un Certain Regard has a smaller premiere (I think) and the films aren't eligible for the Palme D'Or. The person who is leading the Un Certain Regard Jury is always different to the one who is leading 'In Competition' so TBR will be judged by Thomas Vinterberg instead of Spielberg. A lot of Sundance pics end up in the Un Certain Regard section actually but I think that's because a lot of the directors are unknown and the films have already premiered.

Yeah but positive discrimination for a film that doesn't look all that great isn't exactly a step in the right direction...

I’m looking forward to seeing how Emma develops her style this year. Her look at the MTV movie awards was a bit meh. I’m hoping for something really elegant and simple.

Oh man, the film keeps looking better and better every time a new photo or trailer is released. It sounds like, to me at least, that Emma nailed down the accent and the vibe of her character perfectly.

I must add that Emma totally nailed the valley girl accent. She actually sounds just like Alexis Neiers. I love that comedic moment near the end of the trailer when Nikki is talking to the press. Lol. The whole cast looks amazing and I guess we also saw Kirsten Dunst's cameo. People were wondering if she was actually in the film.

Gosh, that trailer really makes me appreciate Emma. So glad she didn't turn out like that:shock: She is young, rich and pretty. She so easily could have...

For the first time I get the impression that the movie actually has a plot. The previous clips I have seen made it seem like it was just a flashy girls-with-money-in-short-skirts kind of movie. I actually want to see it now:D

^ if you watch the tv series "pretty wild" that this movie is based on it is EXACTLY like this trailer. Down to the mom giving her daughters adderall

Emma nailed that little speech at the end of the trailer. Sounds exactly like Alexis
