Shes now bigger than Kate Moss for me. And I´ve loved Kate since 2000-ish.

^ I love that jacket, especially with the more casual top. She looks amazing. Emmanuelle has definitely become one of my style icons lately.

^ Good quote. However, it's kind of a contradictory statement. She wears lots of trendy designers. Sure, they're usually labels she works for, but still..

i think it isnt contradictory. of course balmain is only trendy now, but she's been doing the "topshop jeans + old tee + great fitting (rather expensive and yes, trendy) jacket" thing for a long time now B)

I love her daughters outfit on the previous page :ninja: I would definitely wear something similar, nevermind me being probably 15 years older..

Probably a lot of reposts, but some of them are new to me.

I see nothing "effortless" in a pair of shoes or a jacket that costs as much as a small house. An plus having the opportunity to vary this expensive combo every single day. It's all very nice, but the average Joe can't afford her "effortlessness", what gives charm to her topshop+old sweater combo is the rather expensive and trendy details.

^but those arguments are non sequitur! yes, the shoes and jackets may cost as much as a small house but that's not the point here. it's not about the average joe's purchasing power, nor the price tag on the charming items of her combos.
i actually had to go back to her quote and make sure that instead of the effort being put into buying, owning or getting the clothes, it was still the fit and the way one wears the clothes that was being discussed.
i'm sorry but i just dont see your point, or how that relates to my comment in which i only tried to explain why her statement doesnt sound all that contradictory to me.

oh the first photograph posted was the first time I remember noticing Emmanuelle

^funny mine was the third!!i thought nobody could pull off that cavalli jacket and those infamous vuitton wedges! amazing!
:flower:

^ agreed, she looks so damn cool in it!

I'd like to see the outfit from the second pic better, looks different that usual.

^^i think it's just a shoulders-off lbd with a belt... the cute shoes and the little bag do help! :P

Almásy, i think you just put some of the very best Emmanuelle looks of all times!! the Saint Laurent coat is TDF!

Thank you for that.

I also don't get the Balmain 'rut' comments.
She is deeply involved in Balmain and it is clear to anyone who has followed her style over the years that Balmain is far more influenced by her than the contrary. It's practically her baby and a neat reflection of her own style philosophy.
There is no hint of disingenuity in her appearance: it's very clear she wears what she likes, not what she's paid to wear.
Why go somewhere else when you have a label that fits most of your needs?
Had it been called the 'Alt' label, there would be none of this nonsense. I never hear: damn, those Olsen twins are wearing the Row again!

I also think much of the seeping anger and bitterness in this thread is misdirected.
She cannot be blamed for all the rabid copycats who makes her look redundant in record time. Nor is she responsible for Balmain's marketing direction (and yes, the steep prices are a marketing tool and the main reason why the clothes are doing so well in such a crappy economy).
