LIFEwithBIRD "The World Awake"

Established in 2002, LIFEwithBIRD has become known for clean and clever shapes, and layered silhouettes. Their upcoming AW12 offering ‘The World Awake’ carries on from this, with designers Bridget McCall and Nicholas Van Messner returning to the dark side in terms of colour, while we saw a new softness for Resort. The palette takes its inspiration from colours found in the city, like slate grey, granite, taupe and black, but the collection is kept from being too cerebral with the addition of burgundy, blue and burnt orange, the latter which also worked out nicely in their SS11 collection. There’s a focus on digital prints too, like the Penny Lane print composed from discarded coins. The winter coats are the standout pieces for us, along with all the simple ankle-length dresses where the appeal lies in their subtlety like layered chiffon or delicate pleats. Leather accessories are included once more, with four bag styles, and skinny and plaited belts. Check out the accompanying short film below and images from the lookbook, starring model Erika Linder:
