From ONTD:

We went to Gen Art last night and did some serious damage to our already weak wallets. On our way out, we approached a rack of chain jewelry, wine in hand and announced, "Wow, this looks just like Erin Wasson's."

We were impressed, just like we were when we first saw Erin's pieces, until the girl standing next to the rack, Bliss Lau, looked like she might cry. Apparently, allegedly, her work looks like Erin Wasson's because the model bought one of her necklaces, re-cast it and threw the copies over Alexander Wang's Fall 08 collection on that dirty Chelsea runway.

The original post for that is from fashionista.com not ONTD.

Erin's a well-known poseur though.. her style has always been a horrible hybrid of countless overexposed celebrities and I'm not surprised her newly found vocation is just as 'inspired' as her approach to fashion is. :innocent:

i want to see the original "harder" post.... :ninja:

i get the impression fashionista had some pretty harsh words to say about Erin...

woo hoo, my post was sourced

anyway, I can't believe she stole it and has the balls to charge 3 times as much

This was all I found on Fashionista, but I'm sure if there was an earlier post it slaughtered her, and I kinda feel like she deserves that. I mean, this is pretty low.

this is so horrible.

I know bliss personally- shes such a hardworking, creative person. I can't believe erin did this.

Wow, I just read about this. I don't know, it seems pretty low of her to do that. What makes it so bad, at least to me, is the fact that she actually is wearing one of Lau's pieces in the Nylon pic while promoting her own line. That is just unbelievable that she thought no one would notice. She must really not give a damn, she's got some balls.

I'm reminded of that "I hate Erin Wasson" website now.
<---------Tina doesn't approve of this either. (She made her own jewelry.)

Wow that one piece she wore for Nylon is pretty much identical! Erin has been getting a lot of press lately too and I actually like her stuff but this is pretty damning...is Lau going to sue?

I'm not here to defend Erin... but Evan Yurman has helped her with sourcing materials so her jewelry is definitely more high end than Bliss Lau... and she also has the money & connections to market & promote it. Body chains have been around forever... all this publicity will probably only help both lines... especially Bliss. By the way... I make jewelry & you can DIY this stuff in less than an hour using old broken chains... or buy silver/gold plated chain by the foot at the craft or bead store.

You can only buy Erin's stuff at Maxfields, at the moment, I beliefve. I would imagine bliss has a website you can buy off of so I agree the pub will help her since her stuff is also cheaper. The body chain is really the only similarity I see at the moment though, but it is a striking similarity nonetheless.

i agree MissMag :flower:

this could just be a coincidence (ie. maybe both copied off a vintage piece in the first place- since body chains aren't incredibly innovative)

and i don't mind of Erin charges more if her jewellery is indeed of higher standard materials.

i mean before we judge (and i'm presuming to know anything either), Bliss Lau will probably benefit from the publicity of this anyway :innocent:

Isn't that just fair, though?, at least she's getting a fraction for her idea's results.

I honestly don't think it's a coincidence, I mean, Erin was a client, how could it get any more obvious?, and also, it really isn't a question of whether you're able to emulate her work or not, it's the shameless act of copying and taking advantage of the work of someone you've personally met who clearly doesn't happen to be as well-connected as you are, who isn't lucky enough to have a Yurman to back up your work and give you automatic credibility or know a handful of editors to hype up whatever you throw at the table.. that's what upsetting, to me at least.. it's certainly not a new act, look what Marc Jacobs has done.. even someone evidently talented like Martin Margiela has found himself playing that game too.. it's just.. repulsive..
