Erin Wasson- Jewelry Thief?

Oooh please, that's just an old bracelet, that Erin probably found at some flea market too, and decided to use the pattern in her own collection. No big deal. Just because some random no-name vintage bracelet happens to be the same does not mean anything. Whatever she does, I say good for her; she has some reaaally good pieces. And don't forget that we NEVER know the whole story behind it all.

she is such a hippie! She's like Kelly Lynch's character on 90210.

I don't know if i'd actually call her a thief. I really like her jewelery line.
I think that in any case people are bound to inspire themselves/copy others however obvious it is, and that creating a line in some cases is just a way to share/create things you like. It's not like Bliss Lau invented the concept of body chains, others do it too, and I like the fact that Erin is giving her touch to the pieces, I feel like she is very implicated in her work. Plus it's way less expensive. I can't afford Bliss, so why not indulge in some Low luv? (actually now I've decided to just make it myself, way less expensive)
Anyway this is just what I feel... :flower:

She could at least change it a bit so it could be inspired not copied. You can't be around taking other people's work and calling it your own.

then in that case why don't we just go to all of these other brands and people and tell them they are thiefs... (like ellen arthur page, dsquared, free people or misbhv)
imo, erin made a very simple body chain which yeah might have been inspired by bliss' work (i dont remember if she ever mentioned that she knew about it or not). But when you see other people's work and what they are selling for profit, you can't really throw the stone (only) to Erin... (especially considering some of these look ten times more like bliss' body chains then Erin's simple jewelry...)

^ Oh she definitely knew about Bliss' pieces as she wore the Bliss chain she would later recast and call her own in Nylon Magazine.

This topic is old and beaten to death, yes body chains have always been around, but as MissMagazineAddict points out Erin's was identical to Bliss' in every way/shape/form:

^ You will see also in the linked post that she even admits herself that she is going to copy Bliss' piece.

...

I am surprised we never heard of any kind of lawsuit from Bliss, it makes me wonder if there wasn't a settlement of some kind that took place quietly.

Oops yeah sorry I didnt see how old this thread was or the previous comments. ^_^'
I still think she didn't do it to be a b*tch to Bliss or did she have bad intentions. I'll still like her jewelry.

(thanks for those infos! :flower:)

You may very well be right, and I completely understand and respect your opinion as well :flower:

^^^ Not to CPR an old topic, but... ;)

You don't see a problem with what is essentially a flea market item being sold as an expensive and (relatively) one-of-a-kind design by someone who hasn't even designed it? Personally, if I paid hundreds of $$$ for what I believed was a unique designer item (which is precisely what slapping Erin Wasson's name on a product implies) and then found that the "original" is actually a four-buck trinket from the local 24h shop, I would feel duped to say the least. And, as evidenced by the photos in #75, the bracelets did not just "happen" to be the same - if that is still considered coincidental then I will come out next year with a movie which just "happens" to look like Titanic down to the t, call it Estonia and say that the fact that it's got the same story, same settings, same music and same actors doesn't "mean anything", certainly not that I've seen the movie or owe James Cameron any money.

At least with a cheap knock-off of a high-end product you know exactly what you've bought.

I wouldn't go as far as calling her a thief. But being "heavily inspired" like Zara does is one thing and knocking something off is what Erin did not once but twice.

^agreed.

I guess she's just a better stylist than designer (she finds beautiful pieces but doesnt have many original creations... :/)
