I've noticing for next S/S 05 that espadrilles are everywhere...im happy about it, because I love those shoes, so underrated IMO

All the pics I could find right now... so guys, what do you think about this? new trend or im just off track  as usual

Those have been around almost forever (just that they weren't "in fashion"). I am not sure if i really like "espadrilles", they're a bit too chunky in my opinion. I have always thought that "slimmer" and more "feminine" shoes worked better for an outfit. Just my opinion....

For everyday wear, I just don't see myself wearing something with those shoes... But they DO look nice on the runway. I am trying to picture myself wearing those... Who knows...... Maybe!?!?!? :P

yuck. i don't like them, ESPECIALLY the wedge espadrilles with the ribbon that goes up your legs.

Oh no, I remember my mom and my grandma wearing those when I was a kid, I know they've been out there for ages, but now, I've been seeing those everywhere, I own a pair of flat cork heeled espadrilles in gold d'orsay and brown leather, I got them from this indian artist on the streets, she was making them for you, only $20

I.LOVE.ESPADRILLES !!

They are so much easier to wear than other types of high heeled shoes.
They have a layed back feeling to them..and..this is important to me..I can wear them for hours on end without hurting my feet..as for the chunkyness I think it depends on the model of espadrilles ( I don't like the ones with mass ribbon going up you legs..regardless of how thin your legs are..they are bound to make your legs look like a tied up roastbeef.).

Every summer I go out and buy them regardless of fashion.

I  the espadrilles that Castañer makes.
Apparently Castañer manufactures for brand such as Hermes, Celine, Coach, Kate Spade, YSL (according to the site).

SS05 shoes aren't shown on the site yet unfortunately :(

I like espadrilles, but my problem is that I always CLACK when I walk. My heel just is not secured in the shoe by the ribbons, so its annoying. I wear flip flops all the time, so I don't know why it bothers me so.

Ale,

Being from Cali, My boys and I always rocked them in high school and college.
After leaving Cali, I never picked them up again being in the east and always walking
on Pavement. The rope soles will soon tear up. I had a few pair of leather ones also. They're a classic in my book so they never go out of style, when you work them correctly.

I like them... I like the flatter ones for summer use. Obviously these are only spring/summer shoes. I like them better than flip-flops, but they fit the same fashion niche. They're comfortable, easy-on/easy-off casual shoes.

I used to wear these and hurarache slip-ons when I was in junior-high, and either are styles I could see myself resuming for summer wear.

I definitely think they look cool on the runway, and I can't imagine they'd look that drastically different in normal living.

Marc Jacobs did some pretty lately... I loved them.

I've been hooked on the look of espadrilles ever since I got my first pair in high-school. No other shoes connote "spring time" more than them.

these have been on the runway for a few seasons now so I'm just sort of blah on them and yet people keep featuring them. As far as a casual shoe, I'll stick to flipflops

not shr, none of the shoes have really impressed me this season

i so agree, they are the best.
i had forgotten all about them until ss04, when i just went crazy with espandrilles and i went and bought three identical pairs in colours, i wore them all summer long and i plan to adopt them again for ss05.

espandrilles rock (plus i've found a little company of French guys that do the best, most 'creative' versions around, stay tuned espandrille lovers)

ps> how is it possible for espandrilles to clack? i really dont understand this  they are usually shaped like sandals or 'pumps' so they can't possibly clack :P

I suddenly fell in love with them all over again this summer, too! I used to wear them in high school, on weekends and civies days.

All about the espadrilles!

I had a pair in that style last summer (or was it the summer before?). They were the cutest things and they got so many compliments. Unfortunately, I was self-conscious cause I thought they made my toes look funny, so they went in the trash.

I'll hopefully find a more flattering pair this next spring... I love espadrilles.
