I would have voted for DSquared. Except, it's not so much that I don't 'get' them. I mean, what is there to get? Two flaming queen twins from Canada who produce misogynistic (for women) and homoerotic (for men) overpriced clothing.

It's more like I despise them and think they and their clothes are absolutely vile. They are just so stupid and so trashy. It's just the continued objectifying of women as sluts and whores, but without even a degree of the finesse that Versace or Cavalli has. It's just sick and disgusting.

I feel kind of the same way, I get what they're all about, and I'll admit, up until they got really really big I liked some of their stuff. But the fact that they charge 250 bucks for a cotton t-shirt with an obnoxious or tongue-in-cheek saying on it just pisses me off when Abercrombie offers exactly the same thing but for much less inflated prices.

I guess I can say that I don't "get" a lot of the "avant garde" designers. I think it comes mostly from the fact that it just doesn't appeal to me, I'm not avant garde in my tastes so yeah, I don't get it. It's just a matter of taste though.

Oh and Heatherette, but that's 80% because I just can't stand that whining little queen on speed Richie Rich! God his voice makes me want to peel my skin off.

 Really?! Is it only based on the runway clothing or on what you've seen in person? Elaborate, please (I agree on the rest of the list). :flower:

Sorry for my brevity faust. I mostly think its when I see it in reality in a shop. I think some of the shows look really great ( I liked the collection when all the girls were dancing - although try as I did, I didn't like the s/s 05). However when you see it in the shops there's almost a vulargrity about his work in a similar vein to Galliano - over embellishment, the use of too many costume references & a sexualisation of women which I find too overt to appeal to me. I think in his shows he tames these elements somewhat by the use of abstract makeup & down at heel hairdos. However whenever I see his clothes in the store I can't help but see the mass of peplum waisted jackets, fishtailed skirts, sheepskins/furs, & panelling details - and I alway think they just look like 'rich b*tch' clothes. I saw the beige collection he did for winter in a shop window last week & it just looked like fabulously-blinging-Euro-chic to me.

His clothes always remind me slightly of Christain Lacroix - similar use of colour & brocades....

I dunno - maybe I am just blinkered but I just don't really get it. I can absolutely see his skill but it doesn't appeal to me when I see it. what do you think? maybe you can help me see it....

I don't know, I am thinking we are looking at different stock in Europe and NYC  . That's the thing with him - I think he is pretty much the only who can keep the clothes really special, yet wearable. I think it stands out, it's visible (it's definitely not quiet), but it's definitely not bling. Hmm, maybe we are looking at different stock, indeed. NYC is all about black, you know :flower:

Faust - mmmm yes maybe its presented differently here. I have mainly seen it in Cruise (Glasgow) which has really bad buyers & Harvey Nicks (Edinburgh) which is a bling store in general (certainly in Ed). To be honest I pay very little attention when I am in London as I never have the time (always running around looking at the stuff I know I do like). I agree that it stands out though.... it is very strong. Maybe I should look a little closer next time I am in London. :flower:

i really dont see what everyones problem is with DSQUARED2 i really liked there f/w 04 collection (i think about 50% of my wardrobe was DSQUARED2 - the rest was Galliano Mqueen Burberry Prosum and other randomness) i like there attention to detail and i know there clothes are about sex but most fashion is about sex - well just my opinion :flower:

p.s MCQUEEN IS A GENIOUS PEOPLE

(if there any spelling mistakes i am sorry  )

Agreed, Cruise sucks. Although they did have some Chalayan, last (wait, the only  ) time I looked.

My problem with DSquared2 is that it looks cheap and trashy (in my opinion), yet they charge a fortune for it. You can get the same look at Abercrombie.
