Esther Canadas

I am sorry, I did not mean "old" because she is 30 but somewhat old for her industry!!! Some models in their mid-20s lie and say they are younger just to get work! That is all I meant. I hope I did not offend any of you!

Esther is getting old. My guess is that she's in her 30s by now. She is beautiful, but if you look closely her skin is very aged

Old for WHAT industry -- being a mother???

Eventually you may realize that your backtracking on this only reveals your brainwashing by society.

You say "if you look closely her skin is very aged."
Very aged...what do you call 90 year old skin then?

Ester is beautiful -- period.

Being 30+ will not change that, and frankly neither will being 40+.

What IS old is the thinking displayed by comments suggesting she should stay young forever in order to be beautiful.

A woman doesnt grow into her beauty until she reaches her 30's...before that its just youthful prettiness...a simple and surface allure.

She looks better than most 16 years olds in the "industry".
I am somewhat shocked at how young these girls start.

Marrimoda, please dont make accusations that I've been brainwashed by society, nor take these postings so SERIOUSLY. I simply shared my thoughts. You don't even know me, nor the "society" I've grown up in.

Second, i was referring to the MODELING industry.. it is a COMMON FACT that most 30 year olds ARENT THE MOST PROMINENT MODELS by that age. I was stating what is FACT, and not necessarily personal opinion.

To be frank, people want focused , dedicated models, not women who have given birth or are occupied by a child. (I know Esther adopted, but I am just saying). By 30s most models are "washed up" meaning they are OVERUSED, tired, and people crave new faces. You may not like it, but THIS IS REALITY.
Did I ever say "30 year olds aren't attractive?" NO.
So please don't put words into my mouth. This is the second day I've posted on this board, I really didn't expect someone to lash out at me like this.

Her skin looks great FOR SOMEONE WHO IS THIRTY. If you put Esthers face next to, say, Maggie Rizer's (since she's been mentioned on this board today I will use her) , there is no doubt someone is going to hire Maggie for the job, because she is younger, and more youthful looking.

Esther has been, and will always be one of my favorite and most admired models.
I hope others see where I am coming from.

I totally agree with you italianice283. I think marrimoda misinterpreted the comments and went a trifle overboard. As beautiful as 30 year olds may be marrimoda, the modeling industry is a youth-dominated one. True, there are some companies that hire older women, but all of the major models today are quite young. This is a fact, whether you prefer older women or not. :flower:

Here is a better picture of Esther in the Thomas-Crown Affair. I loved that movie.

I agree, her lips look way too big in the other pic  she's wearing too much makeup, and looks greasy in my opinion.

I've always liked her, and I've run into her in the village once walking, very striking girl in person and I think her lips are her most beautiful asset along with her eyes. :flower: beautiful@ adopting. I hope to do that one day. :woot:

Once I saw her picture "without the big lips" and she looked normal. I don't like models (or no models) with fake lips, which just stand out. To help some thinny lips it's OK, but this...no, no.

OLD.. are you for real? I'm 28... does this make me old??

 how lame...

i am 28 too....

i do understand the mentality that 30 is old in the "industry" damn that term bugs... but please dont let industry standards influence your own standards which will eventually set society standards if we all start thinking that way and there was a "she's old" statement posted that was not predicated with the industry standards and that is what sucks. There are plenty of models still working 30+ with children, please modeling has GOT to be one of the easiest occupations for a working mom…..

Italianice -- I really dont want to drag this discussion out if we are not going to try to understand one another.

You said she looked old, that her skin looked aged.

You made this critique based on a photo that is a candid shot -- not a modeling shot such as a print ad, (which of course brushes away age), or a runway shot. Esther was not modeling in that foto -- and therefore I dont see how you can offer criticism on her in that shot referencing the modeling industry.

Its obvious the industry only uses younger models, nor do older women with families necessarily want to model instead of being with their families.

i understand where italinice is coming from shes not stating her opinion but just an industry fact.
the modelling industry is merciless!~~

I think we can agree that this industry, and its fanatics are merciless.

watching american top model made me make this conclusion where you are taught to be evil and scheming to suceed at 18 !!

I agree with Italianice. I am in my 30s I look good because I am dark looking like Salma Hayek and she s still hot, But your face does change But labeladdict is right you do grow into your beauty. I have cheekbones now not baby fat. There are trade offs.
PS when I was in my 20s I thought 30 was so old too!!

She's so beautiful jus had to make a thread on her
