Actress and model Eva Herzigova has been working the red carpet at the Cannes film festival since her first appearance alongside the then-model Carla Bruni in 2000. She talks ahead of her return to the Croisette this week.

It’s 10 years now that I’ve been attending the Cannes International Film Festival and I have seen every kind of style, from casual looks to very glamorous outfits, sophisticated dresses and sometimes even some kitsch outfits. Everyone looks at everyone but there’s a very high energy in the air.
This year I’ll be attending as a Chopard ambassador, so I’ll just be there for two days. I don’t know what I am wearing yet. In fact, my designer friends are sending me some dresses to Cannes directly. Stefano and Domenico (Dolce & Gabbana), Blumarine, Emilio Pucci and many others will be sending me pieces mainly from their spring/summer 2010 collections. Dolce & Gabbana are also sending some dresses designed especially for the red carpet. It’s going to be a surprise!
I like modern, elegant, rock and sexy outfits; it doesn’t matter if they are long or short. As for the day, in Cannes I actually like to wear outfits with a touch of soiree glamour. In the past I’ve worn different designers: Dolce & Gabbana, Versace, Anna Molinari, Christian Dior, Fendi, Roberto Cavalli, Valentino, to name a few. It changes all the time depending on my mood. There are many designers I love, so I’m always wearing dresses from different ones. Unlike many actresses, I don’t have a stylist. Sometimes I put the outfit together right before I go out in front of the paparazzi. It’s all in the moment ... I just go with the flow. I try not to think about it too much as that would make me nervous.
I still don’t know exactly what jewellery I will be wearing as there are many pieces especially designed for the festival that I haven’t seen yet [Chopard’s Red Carpet Collection will launch in Cannes]. I will be shown all the new pieces while I am there and I will choose the jewellery according to the occasion and to my outfit. I would also like to wear some jewellery from the last collection, Animal World, as it’s really gorgeous. Those items of jewellery I’ve worn during Cannes have probably been the most sparkling, memorable and important ones. On the red carpet they make me feel sexy and give me loads more confidence, not to mention all the extra attention l get from wearing them!
Accessories are very important as they are an integral part of an outfit: belt, bags, scarf, sunglasses. And I love Giuseppe Zanotti’s shoes; I’ll have a wide choice of his shoes and bags in Cannes.
For the make-up, if I have time, I’ll get my eyes all pretty, otherwise just mascara and a strong colour lipstick. There are hair stylists and make-up artists at the disposal of all the celebrities in Cannes. I’ve always collaborated with make-up artist Thierry Mauduit since he’s the best one. For me it’s very important to have great hair at Cannes. If I feel my hair is not doing it, I can be wearing the most amazing dress but not feel comfortable. On the other hand, if I have great hair, I can wear anything.
