Exfoliants

I couldn't find any threads for exfoliants in any searches, so I decided to make this thread. Anyways, I'd like some advice in this area. Any thoughts on the best option for somewhat oily skin with clogged pores? I'm thinking that something relatively strong would work best.

I don't know how old are you but after 10 years of trying who knows how many peelings I've finally found what works for me ... and it's not classic peeling at all. I use serum with glycolic acid ... if I use it regulary it has a effect of a peeling and it last all the time while using it.

I use Mario Badescu's glycolic gel a couple of times a week, a cleanser with AHA's, Angels on Bare Skin from Lush and I also use a cotton cloth to wash my face for a more mechanical exfoliation.
Obviously, I alternate between the cleansers, because it is important not to over do with the exfoliation as it can make your skin produce even more oil.

I use an AHA gel as well - a couple times a week. And the St. Ives apricot scrub in the shower just on my t-zone (its a little rough so I use it really gently) for blackheads and it seems to do the trick.

Baking soda works like a charm. Today was actually the first time I tried this. And I absolutely love it!

I also use Avene CK gel with AHA and BHA few times a week.

I use Dermalogica's Daily Microfoliant 1-2 times a week and it's probably the best exfoliant I've ever used.

I've gotten 10% salicylic peels and 15% glycolic peels done at the dermatologists before. I liked the salicylic, which I got done after living a country with dirty air and water that made my pore all clogged. I got the glycolic just to see what it was like, and I liked it a lot, as it made my skin very smooth.

For the past few months, I've been using the Paula's Choice "Resist" line AHA exfoliants. There is a daily serum with 5% glycolic, and a 10% exfoliant that you are supposed to use once or twice a week. I like the combination a lot. I think it's a pretty good value.

Thanks for all the advice, everyone! I've done some looking around on the Net, and I've come across these two treatments that, with the exception of the obscene prices, seem like they may work okay for me. Any thoughts?

My local Space.NK stocked Peter Thomas Roth (PTR) products, and didn't seem to sell a lot, and occasionally put them on sale at less than half price. That's the only time I bought from the range, because I can't say the products have any miracle effect. I'd say they're a bit more effective than typical drugstore products, because they seem to have a higher concentration of AHAs etc, but they're still not worth the full price they expect you to pay.

Personally, given the risk of irritation, I had to ask myself whether I needed to use a stronger product on my skin on a regular basis, so now I save PTR products for once-a-fortnight use.

^Hmm. Okay. Well, if they aren't really exceptional, I'd prefer to get something else, especially considering the absurd price. Speaking of those "typical drugstore products", are there any good ones that are a bit more readily available? I don't really like spending $50+ on skin care products, and I'm not aware of any high end cosmetics stores around my area outside of Sephora, so if Sephora doesn't carry it, it isn't an option for me.

Even though I just had a few samplers I have to agree. It is a bit pricey, so I am still considering buying it. I think that is cheapest at lookfantastic.
Anyway, I'm using baking soda too, and TBS's face buffer.
