i couldn't find a thread dedicated to this, so...

i'm thinking of buying some prescriptives foundation, but don't want to waste my money - has anyone tried it or currently uses it??

i usually buy cheap foundations (under £10) and fancy trying something more expensive.

any advice?

thanks :flower:

Yes, I buy it on regular basis. My skin is very fair and it's usually difficult to find the right match, but they have a wide range of foundations with many different shades. The best approach is to ask the makeup artist to try to find the best match. I like the foundation because it looks really natural. For example, MAC foundations are too heavy, especially for summer.

thank you :flower:

sounds good as i'm quite pale too - and i hate even looking *slightly* too orange ;) i'll pop into frasers and speak to the makeup artist.

well, i bought some and am very impressed! if anyone's in glasgow - the people behind at the Prescriptives counter in Frasers are lovely!!

got some foundation, though not the custom blend, foundation brush, and concealer. £62 in total, but worth it!

my friend tried it and she said no matter how she blended it in that it left orange streaks in her face. AND she used the lightest possible shade short of the custom blending.

^well, my friend is UBER scary pale, just like I am.

I'm super pale, too. I use Prescriptives foundation (Fresh Camellia), but it's still not light enough. Luckily, I found a solution. Shu Uemura has a product called "Base Control" in white. It's a typing paper white foundation (but it's not supposed to be used alone), that you add to your regular foundation if it's too dark. It's really great and cancels out any "orange" cast to foundation (because us super-pasty pales tend to have blue undertones, any "orange" cast in a foundation looks bad). I love the quality of Prescriptives foundation, but this Shu Uemura stuff makes the color match so nicely. If your friend can find it, it could make her Prescriptives more useful.

^I have strong yellow tones and foundations still tend to look dark on me. I need a fair yellow toned foundation!

it's fresh camilla that i got too. i find that during application it seems fine, but when i've done my whole face, and appliced a little loose powder.... my face looks "made up" and darker than my neck. just a little, but it's irritating!!

so Im not the only person in the world with über pale, yellow toned skin :woot:

Ok, so as I said in another thread, I spent most of Thursday trying out foundations. From Dior to MAC, Clinique to YSL and everything else in between; you name it, I tried it.

I think I finally found a near perfect match with Prescriptives Real Ecru or was it Fresh Ecru? [their website is no help because their shades look nothing like they do in real life] However at £25 for a smallish pot Im a little bit apprehensive about splashing out and getting it because Ive bought countless other foundations before that looked great at first only to realize they were too orange after a few applications in daylight  and unfortunately you cant return cosmetics in the UK so Id be stuck with it.

One of the tricks I use for judging whether the foundation will be too orange when it oxidizes is to look at the mucky testers. Well, it looks like whoever was behind the counter at the Prescriptives in House of Fraser had a touch of OCD because Ive never seen testers so CLEAN in my life.

So my question is for Pescriptives users, do their foundation turn orange after an hour or so? And what is the coverage like for Virtual Skin and virtual matte. I just tried them on the back of my wrist so obviously they rubbed off quite easily.

I suppose I should go and have a full face done and return after a few hours if Im still happy with it but Im always nervous about doing that as Id probably be coerced into buying their entire range
