i dont really like liquid because it will sink into the skin and just stay there.i like bare minerals, you can get the starter kit, that comes with this fabulous concealer brush, and so you can really cover up the imperfectsions with the minerals..i also like this foundation from almay, called nearly naked liquid foundation, it is a liquid, but its the lightest thing ive ever put on my skin next to bare minerals, both are fabulous, but the almay covers very little..prescriptives i only use when i need them to match a lipgloss i cant find or something like that, but never for my skin..

also, name brand foundations clog just as much and drugstore brands, sometimes they cause more havoc-because they have exotic oils and ingrediants that our skin may relate to with an acne outbreak...so nono IMO

FIRST OFF STOP SQUEEZING THEM LITTLE LADY!! secondly go to you nearest jewel or cvs or someplace like that, and buy yourself this kit from a company called universitymedical. you can also buy it at www.universtiymedical.com- its called Scar fade and erase, its a two part system...its excellent for removing hyprepigmentation and greatly minimizing any crater like hole on your skin;im saying all this from personal experience. we may not have the same results, but at $20 (US) i think its worth a shot

again, its at a website called www.universitymedical.com

to clean face: dove soap bar, the pink one.....

It is by far the BEST soap ever for the face. Gentle, removes ALL makeup easily. It is cheap, does not cause breakouts. Does not dry skin out. I had severe acne and tried a lot of more expensive facial cleansers for acne prone skin like stuff from Clinique, Neutrogena, Clean and Clear, L'Oreal.... etc, and so many more and this comes out on top. :flower:

Could someone please explain to me if there is a difference between astringent and toner? i always thought that an astringent was used to cleanse the dirt out of the pores and a toner was used to balance and refresh the skin but i wasnt sure...

I am looking for something to cleanse the dirt out of my pores after using a cleanser... does anyone have any recomendations?

thanks in advance!

these are my favorites...

1) cleanser - Murad Essential-C cleansing gel (smells yummy and cleans throughly, supposed to target environmental impurities)

2) moisturizer/face cream - Elemis Pro-Collagen Cream (the most AMAZING product! i swear my skin has an even tone, super smooth texture and a very radiant glow)

3) moisturizer/face cream - Colonial Dames vitamin E face cream (sometimes i use this also and it soothes my skin cause of the vitamin e, it leaves my skin healthy and glowing....and it helps prevent blemishes...i also put this under my eyes as eye cream)

4) eye treatment - Hylexin (under my vitamin e cream i put this and i swear my dark circles have significantly diminished)

5) mask - Elemis Exotic Cream Moisturizing mask (when my skin needs a boost, i use this after exfoliating once a week. sometimes i leave it on overnight if i feel my skin is dull)

6) all Kiehl's products! especially their shampoos....love what they do for my hair

7) L'Occitane shea butter soaps - leaves my skin smooth and moisturized and i love the lavender and vanilla scents

oh, youre in vancuver...well go to a local drugstore, or do guys call it a chemist? just a regular old place where they sell everything basically

i have said it before and i'll repeat it, DOVE SOAP, for sensitive skin, and st ives apricot scrub, i've tried everything expensive, and these are the only things that work!

what does the neck cream do? I always thought they were more of a repair product than a preventative one? That said, I HATE the lines on my neck, so it it fixed them I'm in

Hi everyone,

Most threads here are about how you take care of your skin and what you use daily, but I'm wondering if there's any products that really made a diffrence for you ?

In this jungle with Clinique, Estee Lauder and other brands, I'm very confused of what to buy ?

Do I buy a face wash,exfoliater and a daycream ? ( anything I left out ? )

( I've got normal type skin, nothing too dry or oily and neither is my skin hypersensitive )

Would be very thankful for any reply.

...The girl out on the quest for that perfect skin ^_^

I use Neutrogena and I love it. I used to use olay and it was breaking me out  so I stopped using it.

Here what I use from them and recommend

Liquid Neutrogena face wash

Oil free moisture SPF 15 (they must have done something to the formula because it isn't as greasy as it used to be)

Healthy skin eye cream

On the spot benzoyl perxode if you have acne (apply all over face twice a day under moisturizer even when clear to prevent break outs. Don't worry, it is gentle and won't fry your skin like other benzoyl peroxide creams do)

Healthy Skin face lotion night formula

St. Ives gentle apritcot scrub.

Well, there ya go! that is all that I use. I also use vaseline to take off my water-proof foundation at night before I wash my face. Don't worry, vaseline is non-comedogenic. It doesn't clog your pores, the molecules are too big. (great, now even molecules are obese in america:P )

astringent is for oily skin and toner is for normal/dry skin. For example, neutrogena's deep clean astringent is called astringent because it is for oily skin and dissolves oil. However, their Alochol free toner is called toner because it is meant to tone and hydrate the skin, not dissolve oil.

Can i just say that the best moisturiser ever invented that covers all the basis is Olay's UV fluid. Not only does it contain an spf of 15 that blocks both UVA and UVB rays, but it also contains antioxidants that help to combat UV induced free radical damage. Its perfect for oily skin such as my own and its the only moisturiser ive ever used that has not left me with spots/ an oily sheen. For the bargain price of just 3.99, it does what creams like creme la mer/ Shishedo should do but at an incredibly reduced price !
