Fair / Pale Skin

^^ yep and a lot of them buy bleaching lotion to make themselves more pale :)

Pale is beautiful!

im pretty fair which i dont mind most of the time..its my look afterall but it just sucks that my work outfits have to be white tops with black bottoms! this doesnt really flatter my complexion considering my skin matches my tops and bottoms are a stark contrast. so right now ive resorted to fake baking which does not make me tan whatsoever! and im not trying to be but it just gives me a lil bit of color so that im not matching my white clothes.

but other than that, i love my fair skin, i wish people arent so negative about it here in that States! seems like most people will take oompa loompa over being naturally fair.

the only thing thats negative about being pale is the problem of veins showing where skin is thin

i got one right on my face :) its pretty damn fun actually
btw say ur Asian but ur incredibly pale (like u are paler then a lot of your caucasian classmate), will you still stick to beauty tip to ASian Skin (which they assume you that ur pretty tanned) for fair skin?????
I got this question stuck in my head when im reading seventeen magazine.

I love pale skin, it's everything I wanted since I lived in a tropical island in high humidity. I remember wildly rubbing limes on my arms and legs to get paler. Moving to Alaska was the best thing for me!

Now I'm in southern CA and summer is on its way and I'm already starting to tan - arms and face - and I'm hating it, even though the weather begs for skirts and dresses, it's not enough. My ex loves me tanned, he says I look "healthier" but I disagree.

I've been trying to find this old article I read of a gothic model's routine to have flawless porcelain skin, however I did find this. Scroll down for tips. I will printing it out as well.

jjbunny79,

i have also noticed that Asian models in Seventeen are usually the 'Golden Skin' example for the makeup editorials but i usually stick to the tutorials on 'Fair Skin' regardless of the models race because generally i cant handle the makeup for a darker skinned tone, maybe for nighttime makeup but for the day id look over done just because the colors would be too strong. which reminds me of this very fair skinned girl that i saw the other day with a really dark bronzer on her cheeks..it was way too dark and obvious for her.

~

well it looks like my fake bake has faded and im pretty much back to normal, its not bad at all considering the weather has cooled down a little bit so i wont have to worry about being too pale in tanks etc
i love seeing how many models are so pale these days! its refreshing! i think during Gisele's & the Brazilians 'reign', it was all tan all the time!(i think the sun damage is starting to show a little bit on Gisele)

im not sure what it is but its just so hard to even get a base tan. not that im really really planning to but i wonder what it would be like. i havent been tan since i was a kid! but now its so hard to tan, now i just burn and peel and get lighter! (or so it seems)

^thanks, i just find my complexion bizarre politically incorrect, thats all.

I love being fair-skinned...except when I'm working out b/c I get so red even though it's not because I'm out of shape or anything..it's so embarrassing

^ just blood circulation?! :P
my cheeks is rosy when the circulation is good and red under various circumstences.
i barely sweat for some stupid reason, so when im under the sun my fave turn bright red easily, which is ridiculous.

Haha. Me too. I look like a tomato, no joke. My skin isn't porcelain though- it's fair to medium and it tans easily despite using sunscreen.

I find it amusing that the general public's idea of the quintessential Australian (woman) is someone really tanned and "healthy-looking" when (a) all our most famous exports are really really fair and more importantly (b) we have the highest rate of skin cancer in the world and of course you get skin cancer by frying yourself outside in the sun with no sunscreen in pursuit of the Australian ideal.

I actually love my skintone. Naturally every summer I wish I looked more alive compared to all the overbaked people. Its funny how almost every year you read or see on tv that its fashionable to be white and then its only me and Nicole Kidman B) There`s nothing wrong to have a nice tan and look glowing and healthy

^ yes there is nothing better than to be looking glowy and healthy whatever skintone you have. To me skintone is a bit like hair colour- too dark/orange (fake tanning or natural tanning) or too light (excessive lightening/bleaching) from your natural colour and you are going to look pretty strange.

Exactly!
What's so 'healthy' when you have skin cancer and sunburn??
Although I live in Aus. I'm Asian so people are generally more understanding that I'm keeping my skin un-tanned. But there is a lot of pressure out there for Aussie girls to be golden all year long!

Pale all the way :innocent:

You needn't even bring up cancer and burns. A tan is literally sun damage. Not that I'm a bossy health nut, but I'm tired of hearing about the 'healthy tan'.

I think as pale people we can sport a great healthy glow. Which isn't seasonal.

I like my paleness. The only problems I have with it are:
1. Finding foundation/concealer that matches my skin tone. I use dream matte mousse in porcelain ivory now and when I try to blend it into my neck it looks a bit orangey if I use too much.
2. Under eye circles. I know I don't get enough sleep, I don't want to show it on my face though.
3. Dark knees. My knees are like 5 shades darker than the rest of me. I don't know why either. It's insane.
4. I can't scratch myself without redmarks appearing. Yeah, the "clawed" look is so in.

I have some fake tan stuff, Jergens or Neutrogena. I forget which, I think it's called Natural Glow. It looks okay on me actually, but constantly having to reapply is a pain. (I haven't used it since last year.)

BTW, any tips on what to do about my knees?

I have the same thing, except it's not just at the knees. My elbows are the most embarassing thing. I'm not sure what to do. But make sure those areas are always exfoliated and well hydrated. Maybe you can try skin lightening treatments too. Though I've always been to lazy to try and use them myself.

haha. I sometimes do this for fun. (I guess I have low standarts for fun.) I don't think it's a big deal. Maybe gently rubbing the area will get it to fade quicker though.

it sucks to be fair when you live in California! im so tired of fakebaking already and summer is not even close to being over!

^ it is the same in winnipeg too, a lot of people already have tan
but i like it tho, makes me stands out :p

oo by fakebaking i mean the tanning lotions.. but they fade sooo fast! its a pain to have to reapply that often. i dont even care to be super tan, i just do it so i dont match my white work shirts! :)
